First off, the woman that works at the register has a horrible attitude. She is rude and nasty all the time and for no reason. She always has this look on her face as if she has just swallowed rancid milk.
The man who works there who usually cooks the food is a tiny bit more friendly, or at least he isn't completely and blatantly unpleasant. I always get the feeling that I am disliked by the both of them, but the cashier especially, when I shop there.
I used to go there all the time because it is very convenient being right next to the subway and I spent a ton of money in that place but I got tired of being treated badly by these people. I'd rather die than to ever go there again and give them any business. I refuse to use my hard earned money to help mean people prosper.
I forget to mention that their prices are ridiculously high compared to other, similar stores. Also, they will overcharge you if you don't pay attention and if you realize you've been cheated and speak up about it, they will make an excuse as to why they has to charge more.
Also, you can't use any type of card to pay with unless you are going to spend more than $7. So if I want to spend $5 and I don't have cash, I have to take money from the ATM and be charged for taking out my own money just so I can make a purchase. It's either that, or buy more items than I wanted to so it's over $7. Also, since when can you only purchase scratch off lottery tickets with cash???
Their inventory isn't great either. They don't stock a lot of normal products that similar stores carry. Overall, I wouldn't recommend shopping there even to an enemy. These people don't deserve to be in business.
I hate to say it, but I really think the workers there are racist and only like...
Read moreOnly HORRIBLE experiences here. I've noticed the owners will try to judge you to see if they can cheat you roughly 0.50 cents or so. I've went here with & without friends, and depending on who I've went there with, the owners will on occasion try to charge us more, even though the price is clearly listed. The owners will call it "tax" yet they will not ring it up as such on the register.
Furthermore, when ordering hot food the owners have played off the overcharge with some garbled explanation of some sandwiches having tax whereas others don't (then why list mismatching prices on the board?). Besides, if you do a quick calculation with nyc sales tax (8.875%) you will see that it's an obvious lie.
Bottom line: This business gives a horrible name to small business owners everywhere. The owners are obviously engaging in tax fraud as well as cheating their customers in order to raise even more revenue. BUYERS BEWARE. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Business like these rely on the support of their community. If anything, report them to the local tax authority so they can't continue to cheat the community...
Read moreMy recent visit to Lee’s Deli left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. Not only did I encounter blatant racism, but I was also overcharged for my order. From the moment I walked in, I felt unwelcome and discriminated against by the staff. Despite being a paying customer, I was treated differently based on my race, which is completely unacceptable in any establishment.
To make matters worse, when I received my bill, I noticed discrepancies in the pricing that clearly indicated overcharging. It’s disheartening to see a business engage in such unethical practices, taking advantage...
