Ralph's Sports Bar — Restaurant in New York

I came here to visit friends in Staten Island and watch some football. If I lived in Staten Island, I would not come back to this place for several reasons. The reasons, Food, timing, the sports bar Experience. Firstly the food, I ordered a Cali burger, Medium. After a while, (Which I will describe later) the burger finally came out. The burger was like a rock!!! The burger was OVER well done , like a Brick, but since it took like forever to come out in the first place, and the 2 waitresses were swamped I decided to eat it, that was a bad decision for $24.00.

Secondly, the timing. I came on a football Sunday before 1 , slowly but surely more people started arriving including my party of 4. Ordering drinks from the bar was not a problem for the wait staff. The waitresses were very pleasant, and answered all questions nicely. As the place started to get full, the kitchen started to lag way behind, that it reminded me of episodes of Bar Rescue! My burger took about 1/2 hour to come out, they asked if I wanted another beer, I said my food hasn’t come out yet?!? Perhaps they could have comped the beer, as many places do in a case like this . Then a group of ladies sat behind me and I left at the end of the 1 pm games and they ordered way before that at least 45 minutes to an hour and they still do not receive their food the members of my party as well did not receive their food so was definitely a defect in the working of their kitchen staff.

Lastly is the set up of the sports bar usually when you go to a sports bar particularly one for Sunday football you want to have the opportunity to see all the games however this bar did not have that. They only had the regular games that you could watch from your TV at home Also they’re set up. They have a hanging wall which displays their daily specials. No patron wants to see that a waitress or a menu can tell them that if they placed two flatscreen TVs on top this would’ve added more screens to watch from the viewpoint of the dining room to the bar instead patrons have to twist their neck from side to side to see the football games as the set up of the bar requires that no front facing screens unless you were actually sitting at the bar.

All in all I am being generous by giving the place two stars it received three stars for atmosphere as this was a very popular place where many people did show up to come and enjoy each other’s company. This is a fact it seems to be that this place is quite popular and the owner is well liked however from an outsider looking in an experienced in manysports bars this place dropped the ball and committed an error. They should be penalised.

Furthermore, their draft beer selection is not that good , if you want an array of craft beers , then this bar is not for you. I had a Spaten octoberfest which was OK, but in my opinion, they should have had more local craft beers on tap to give a...

Service was good but WE WAITED OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF FOR OUR FOOD! I had the penne ala vodka with pan seared chicken, my chicken tasted burned with chemicals. It made me nauseous. The same waiter would come back to our table every maybe 20-30 minutes to tell us “its gonna be another 10-15 minutes”. No owner or manager in sight to give us an explanation. Only after our food came did he show his face to us to ask if we needed anything!! He was dancing around us all night taking pictures for other people PUSHING ON ME AS HE WAS DOING IT! Walked back right on me as im sitting at the table! I pushed my seat away and HE STEPPED FURTHER BACK AGAIN RIGHT ABOVE ME!! but never bothered to say sorry or to check up on us! Than the cherry on top was they gave themselves a tip when charging my card… im never going back...

I should’ve written this sooner. On November 18th my husband and I had a wonderful celebration for our 26yr old son at Ralph’s. It was a last minute decision, so we really didn’t have a plan. We just knew we wanted to have a fun party for our him. Ralph was wonderful. He was personally involved from beginning to end and he used his vast experience in the field to help us put together a great party. There was an abundance of food and it was all fresh, and delicious (Omg Nonna’s Arancini). Service was great! The servers and bartenders were friendly, attentive and accommodating. There wasn’t a single thing we had to concern ourselves with that day. We wanted to have a fun, relaxed celebration for our son with great food and drink and that’s exactly what we got!...
