Red House Kitchen — Restaurant in New York

I ordered two dishes to go at this Chinese restaurant. It cost me almost 40 dollars including sales tax. One was vegetable dish, and the other was chicken with tofu. When I got home, I discovered that the amount of the food in each dish was only half of amount that I had gotten at the same price from other Chinese restaurants that I have been to.

The dish with chicken that I ordered had only a very small piece of chichen (It was less than a quarter of your smallest finger nail if I identified that piece as chicken correctly. Honestly, I was still not sure if that piece was chicken).

The brown sauce was oversaturated all over the ingredients in both dishes. Also, the sauce was about half an inch deep on the bottom of the containers. In other words, it was too much sauce.

Both dishes were essentially the same. However, I paid for the chicken dish more than the vegetable one. I have been to many Chinese restaurants. This one was one of the worst.

I threw out most of them. The only positive thing was that the food that I had ordered came quickly after I placed the order, and they speak English.

One more thing: cooking grease smell was in the air at the restaurant while I was waiting for my order. That smell was...

I've ordered from this restaurant many times since moving into the neighborhood. I typically order one of the special combination platters, which consists of a main dish, choice of rice, and choice of egg drop soup, wonton soup, or an egg roll. Serving sizes are ample, and $12 usually gets me dinner, with leftovers for lunch. I've noticed occasional inconsistencies, maybe they hired a new cook recently? Food isn't worse, just different, and I would highly recommend if you're in the mood for something...
