We've found our new go-to sushi spot at Sushi Akio! The experience was exceptional from start to finish. The food was simply fantastic—every roll was incredibly fresh, and the flavors were on point. We especially loved the variety, ordering the Philadelphia, spicy salmon, spicy tuna, spicy shrimp, and eel avocado rolls. Each one was amazing. The service was top-notch. The server was not only attentive but also incredibly kind, even letting us try their new mango salad on the house (which was delicious!). My father-in-law had the Salmon Mango, and it was a hit as well. What truly stood out was how mindful they were of our son's sesame allergies. They took extra care to ensure everything was safe for him, which we deeply appreciated. To top it all off, my wife accidentally left her phone on the table, and the server literally ran after us to return it. That level of care and attention to detail made our experience even more memorable. We're definitely coming back to this amazing place. Highly recommended!

I waited over an hour for my takeout order of just two sets of sushi, extremely disappointing and unacceptable. They only have one chef, which is obviously not enough to handle orders efficiently. The worse is no one told me about the long wait time before taking my order, which they definitely should have. On top of that, the staff had a bad attitude and provided poor customer service. Very dissatisfied and will not be returning.

absolutely excellent sushi in the Forest Hill neighborhoods, and the scallop Maki roll was the ultimate best. so fresh and bouncy and full of delicious flavor, and the wasabi is ready made so it is crumbly and has a very distinct texture, like you put it on top of the sushi instead of mixing it when the soy sauce, also had the Forest Hill roll and the Akio roll and would definitely recommend the restaurant

This is a dine in review, I cannot speak to delivery.

Folks, this is not a Michelin rated restaurant, staff and chef are not Japanese, decor is tantamount to a dive bar, your cloths WILL smell like oil (bad ventilation) but people of Forest Hills Queens (yes you) if you've never been to this place, then shame on you!

Check out my pics, this is my 3rd time here in 2 months, I've recommended this place to like minded discerning Sushi lover and have gotten approval. So here's my rating. 1-10, 1 being really bad.

Price: 8 - $30/$40/$50 for a 10/15/20 piece Omakase is unheard of

Food: 7.5 is it better than my trip to Japan, no, is it better than the best places in NYC? No. Is it close? Damn straight, yes! and its DIFFERENT, some cool things going on here folks.

Service: 7 Small staff, can be slow at times with chef making take out and all. At the end of the night, had a chat with the host, she was delightful and courteous.

Decor: 5 - its not the best, I get it, your cloths WILL SMELL LIKE OIL, so dress appropriately.

I will go back in a heartbeat, in fact very soon, by myself even since they recognize me now...

It's BYOB with beer access across the street and wine shop to the left, a...

Very dishonest business. I gave the waiter my card to pay for the meal, with $15 in cash for the tip. The waiter even asked if the cash was for the tip and I explicitly told them that "Yes, the cash is for the tip". So they took my card to pay for the meal and pocketed the $15 cash tip. A few days later while looking over my transaction history, I saw that the restaurant charged me an extra $20. The waiter charged me an extra 25% tip on my card on top of the $15 cash tip I already gave them. The waiter didn't mention anything about the tip on the card when giving me the card back or anything, probably hoping I wouldn't notice at all. So the waiter basically took a $35 tip for a meal that costed $80, that's 44%. The waiter is sleazy, scummy, and dishonest. I will definitely be disputing the charge with my bank and never going there again. Was it really worth losing a valuable...
