My experience at Sabry's was absolutely unexpected and blew me away. Sabrys is an Egyptian seafood restaurant and allows you to feel as if you are stepping over into the Middle East to enjoy dinner at a local restaurant with hopes to catch a soccer game on television.
When you arrive you have the opportunity to choose your own fish which is an excitement within itself. A go-to fish to pick for me would be the red snapper and branzini. I decided on the branzini, and it literally melted into my mouth. I tasted another fish that was still very delicious but not as smooth in taste as the Branzini. This is simply a matter of taste bud preferences, so don't be afraid to pick any of their fish. :)
While waiting for the fish to be prepared whole and fresh, we received a delicious house flat bread freshly baked. I must emphasize that their flat bread will make your mouth water on it's own. However, they dont have a gluten-free alternative for their flatbread, which I hope to stumble on one day. We also received eggplant and salad with our meal. We ordered a fish soup, which could have been my meal on it own and was absolutely savory. It even included the most large yet fresh octopus, clams, and shrimps I've ever seen in a soup. By the time we made it through the appetizers and soup, I was already full. However, I managed to make room for some of my fish and enjoyed it to the fullest. The fish came with an Egyptian style rice that was extremely tasty the next day for lunch. You definitely will have food to bring home or could even share some of the dishes.
The service was very professional and of quality. Prices were fair for the quality of food and the experience of being able to pick your fish.
I normally would give a three for the atmosphere because it doesn't match their 5-star seafood and overall dining experience. I left it a 5 because the atmosphere also fits an Egyptian theme that is unique within itself.
A must return to location.

Read moreOne great thing about this place is that they managed to accommodate our group of nine at the last minute, and we were able to grab a table as soon as we walked in. The restaurant was packed with regulars and newcomers alike, all eager to experience the lively atmosphere. The seafood market-style layout by the counter showcased fresh fish piled high on ice, which was an inviting sight.
We ended up ordering a few different kinds of shrimp—fried and grilled—drizzled with garlic butter and a remarkable green sauce that elevated the dish. The fried calamari was fresh, but it was the accompanying tomato sauce that stole the show; we ended up using it to dip our bread as well.
We also ordered three different types of fish: one fried, one grilled, and one BBQ Egyptian-style branzino. The fried and grilled options were decent, but nothing to write home about. However, the branzino was a different story. It arrived looking like it had been forgotten in the oven—completely blackened, as if the FDNY couldn’t save it from a burning building. The taste was just as disappointing, bitter from being charred beyond recognition. The server had claimed it was a popular dish, which left me puzzled.
When I inquired about the price of a red snapper, I was shocked to hear it would cost us $80 for a small fish. While some dishes showed promise, this experience didn’t justify a...
Read moreI expected a lot better. We came in at a busy time and were rushed onto our table before it was properly cleaned. We didn't get enough waters and had to ask for additional cups. They didn't place enough cutlery out at first either. The food was delicious all around, except for the shrimp linguine, which was bland. The rest of the dishes we ordered, particularly the tajine, was great. However, the service was terrible. Our server rushed us at every point. He asked if we were done ordering after each individual person told him and grabbed the menus out of our hands when I gave my order. My youngest brother didn't get a chance to order, and we had to call him back after the appetizers were served to give his order, which the cooks never actually made. And we only found out after all the other meals were served. When my mother confronted the server, he apologized but kept trying to come explain to me that they were very busy today and flat out ignored my mother and brother trying to speak with him. I understand rushing when you're busy to accommodate all your customers, but you've done it at the cost of one family's...
