Sitan gym is located up in Astoria and is a great Muay Thai spot near Long Island City. It's been open for over twenty years and the experience of the staff really shows. Head instructor Aziz Nabih is a long time resident of New York City and has a storied amount of experience behind him. He has spent a lot of time in Dutch style kickboxing and is also connected with Sitsongpeenong in Thailand. Sittichai Sitsongpeenong, the multiple Kickboxing and Muay Thai champion trains out of Sitan when he comes to America and Nabih has helped him with his boxing. Nabih's students including Eddie Cuello, Thiago Azeredo and Rami Ibrahim have all gone on to open solid schools in Long Island, Arizona, and Philadelphia. Nabih also has a large current fight team including Jessica Ng who is slated to fight in the 2018 Pan American games. He's also served as a coach on the USMF (United States Muay Thai Federation) which is pushing Muay Thai into the Olympics. The gym itself is small but has dedicated trainers and people. Under Nabih's guidance this spot is a diamond in the rough.

Growing up there and passing by this on google maps, I had to clarify how much being a part of this facility has helped me grow and I wouldn’t have been able to get by and even put myself out their with my expression if it wasn’t for the methods taught here and the lessons I learned from each and every one of them. Aside from learning self defense as a girl in the state of New York, I had also learned to break free of any fears and take the risk to accomplish any goal I set my mind to. Stepping out due to personal matters could honestly have been one of the biggest regrets of my life honestly, but I would not have been able to achieve each goal and cope with each struggle and overcome each obstacle if it wasn’t for Aziz being a part of it even if I wished it was for a longer period. Thank you so much for everything, as I am extremely grateful for each and every moment I spent on each padded mat screaming hiyah with every punch, punching each board and punching bag feeling more powerful each time, getting promoted to each level and feeling accomplishment, maintaining self discipline to become my best self possible, and to including me in a group surrounded by love and support teaching me that I can love myself in every single way as well. Again, THANK YOU ❤️ (hope you remember me 😅 it has been so long but I could never forget this...

Everyone here is so friendly, understanding, and welcoming. Walid is honestly the best coach ever. He’s very patient, kind, and explains everything so clearly. He works hard to create a positive environment and is always attentive, making sure you get a solid workout. The rest of the staff are just as supportive. Don’t be afraid to start working out here, they go out of their way to make sure you feel safe and comfortable. They’ll never pair you with someone way more advanced if you're just starting in Muay Thai. I really feel they do a great job of identifying your level and matching you with partners at a similar skill level. And even if you do train with someone more advanced, everyone is super understanding and respectful, they won’t go hard on you. Also, the owner, which I don’t remember his name, is super nice, always smiling and greeting everyone. He’s very approachable and down to earth. I highly recommend this gym. I’ve tried several Muay Thai locations in Manhattan and Queens, and this one is by...
