Title: An Edible Time Capsule: My Childhood Pizza Haven
Review:
As a child growing up in Queens, New York, on 87th st on Jamaica At. the city's bustling streets were my playground and its pizza places, my second home. Among the many pizzerias I've sampled, one stands out as not only the best but also a significant part of my childhood - the name of which I hold close to my heart.
Walking into this pizza place is like stepping into a time capsule, whisking me back to simpler times when life's biggest decisions were choosing a plain cheese slice or a slice of a Sicilian. The aroma of freshly baked dough, the sizzling symphony of melting cheese, and the tangy scent of tomato sauce colliding is an experience that never fails to evoke nostalgia.
The pizzas where I remember - a perfect blend of chewy and crispy crust, generously laden with the freshest of ingredients. The cheese pulls away in long, glorious strands with each slice you take, testament to the love and care that goes into every pizza baked in their traditional stone ovens.
But more than the pizza, it's the atmosphere that brings the memories flooding back. The warm and friendly staff, the faded black and white photographs adorning the walls, and the soft, ambient glow from the oven – everything about this place screams 'home'. The Italian atmosphere not just in the pizzeria, but the route the blocks of Jamaica Avenue.
I've had the good fortune of sampling pizzas from around the many destinations, but none have come close to the experience this place offers. It's not just about the food, it's a heartfelt connection to my past. This isn't just a pizza place, it's a slice of my childhood, served fresh out of the oven.
For authentic New York pizza experience, this is the place to be. Come for the pizza, stay for the memories. It's more than a meal, it's a journey back in time. Not sure if the original family owns it anymore! I moved when I was 12years old. I’m almost 45 now and it seems like it was yesterday and their Italian ice was my favorite during the...
Read moreOur oven is out of commission currently and we ordered pizza from Sal's for the first time through the website that uses Slice as the delivery service. We ordered a large pizza pie and a Sicilian pie, one pepperoni roll and one spinach roll. I usually only get the spinach rolls which are very good. The delivery time was within the time promised and more than I usually spend at other pizza stores in the neighborhood. The food came and it was luke warm to cold and we had to heat it in the microwave. The pies were very chewy and I mean teething type chewy. My mouth got real exercise eating the pizza. The Sicilian was tougher than the regular though by not much.. So I'll continue to get the rolls from them spinach, broccoli or pepperoni and skip on the pizza. I'm too afraid to order a veal cutlet hero figuring I may break my...
Read moreI HAD to write a review about these people. They were so nice to me. I wanted a delivery of 2 baked ziti's with meatballs and extra mozz. I got the idea from looking at their photo reviews. I asked them for the same, but 2 orders. I never bought from them before and i'm always a bit scheptical because it could be a planted photo. Let me tell ya. The ziti they made me was better than the picture. They actually take care of their customers. This is my first time ordering. But it won't be my last. Best Italian food to me in Woodhaven. The only reason i didn't give em 5 stars is because i didn't try everything yet. But i have no doubt that it'l be good. Its way better than some of these so called Italian pizza shop with Mexicans doing the cooking. I've never had good Italian ziti like...
