To be honest I didn’t want to write this review being that I love supporting black businesses I would never want to bring down my own kind but I have to address this … I’ve eaten from here a couple times the food far as flavor is decent the people here are quite nice good customer service and the potato salad is banging it taste like grandmas potato salad I’m not gonna lie .The collard greens and yams are decent if I had to rate I would give it a 6. But it bothers me that every time I go get a 5 piece dish dinner with two sides which is 17 dollars and in these times I know inflation is beating everybody’s ass I understand but if I’m paying that much I want the quantity and quality that I’m paying for and I also leave tips but damn don’t try to rob people I say this because they are advertising 5 piece fish dinner with two sides but in all reality they are giving you like 2 and a half piece of small fish that are cut up but it’s five pieces so you think your getting 5 pieces of whiteys but it’s not whole fillets which is sad because whiteys aren’t even that expensive. Also with the sides they literally giving you like one scoop like seriously that is outrageous it doesn’t even fill up to the top of the cover of the plate .This goes back to trying to support black owned businesses but it’s hard because they will always try to get over on their own people. You don’t even have the decency to say “ hey I don’t have much fish left I can add something else to your order to accommodate you” and this isn’t the first encounter . My black people we have to do better your trying get over on people and that’s not gonna work because there are many places that have soul food and it really comes from the soul stop trying to rob people because your going to lose some good customers. Hope this doesn’t offend anyone hope they accept criticism and make a change I’m just being honest God bless and I wish you all nothing but success but I will not be...
Read moreHighly Dissapointed. Literally just left , I tried it for a second time. Let's start with the positives ....They can fry fish .that concludes the positive. As a black man, when I saw a black-owned business opening in BX I was happy 2 see it. I went in to support. HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE! Every single person acts like they hate that place , and don't want 2 be there. I literally had to wait 5 mins just to order while the owner sat in front of the store & his workers ignored me. He literally had to get up and take my order. This time I only went because my 1st choice of dining was closed...deciding to give them another chance. I was again met with terrible customer service. The short women behind the counter had an additude , and was very sarcastic when telling me the specials that are literally sat outside as a promotion where " been over since 3 pm" ...meanwhile they still outside at 7:30 . I had to wait 20 mins for my fish and chips order....no side ...no drinks. Just fish and chips. Then had to spend another 5 mins asking for tarter sauce as the same women who took my order ignored me( literally NOT handling orders atm) . The owner, reluctantly, gave me it after hearing me ask several times. Not one smile, not a "thank you for your service" , not a NOTHING ! I will not be going back there . & I had to come and write this review because honestly....if that's how you are going to treat customers you should literally GO INTO ANOTHER BUSINESS bro...
Read moreThis was my third time visiting Seafood Soul & Tingz, and honestly, the vibe has been the same every time. Nobody greets you when you walk in, not the workers or the owner. The energy just isn’t welcoming at all. You only get spoken to when it’s time to order, there’s never a “Hey, welcome in!” or anything friendly to make you feel comfortable.
I usually order the same meal, but this time I tried something different, and it could’ve used a little more seasoning, especially for the price.
As a Afro-Latina woman living in a mostly Latin neighborhood, I really love that there’s a Black-owned soul food spot close by. But you’d expect the energy and hospitality to be a lot warmer and more uplifting. Instead, the staff always looks tired or like they don’t want to be there. That’s not a good look for business, you never know who’s walking through your doors.
A simple smile or greeting can go a long way and can really change the customer’s experience. Right now, it just feels flat, which makes it hard to want to come back. The food has potential, but the customer service and overall vibe definitely need...
