Biggest disappointment and waste of money and time. Food is terrible!!! I do not recommend this place at all.👎🏼 specially if you’re hungry, you’ll leave and still hungry. -Good things first: The ambiance is actually pretty cool and we loved that, drinks were good (we got great service at the bar)… the place had a lot of lights, decorations and good music giving nice holidays vibes. Important to say the only good meal that night was the burguer 🍔which was decent and had good flavor. 9/10
-What we didn’t like: A very honest review not trying to get anyone in trouble just to give heads up on what to expect.
Service was ok, we had more attention from the busser which he was great, than our waiter so it was “an ok service” overall I guess. Nothing like top notch service if is what you are expecting. Too pricy for what they offer in regards of “quality”. No dish was to dye for or to come back for. Every single dish was very small and not tasty at all.. the appetizers are made for 1 person… The burrata was just cheese (which it was good) however it came with 2 pieces of squash and it was very hard and did not match at all with the cheese 4/10. No bread at all. The bruschetta was ok but really nothing crazy or tasty 6/10. The maltagliati was a recommendation and sounded amazing but honestly it was nothing to dye for. 4/10. The branzino, very small portion, no sides, just a bunch of uncooked tomatoes on top, no sauce no nothing, no exciting flavors… they throw parsley (whole leaves, not cut) on top of it so not even as a decoration looked good. Now the biggest disappointment of the night, the canederli al tartufo, (my meal) and I was so excited as this was also a big hype and recommendation from our waiter, as you see in the picture it looks like 3 big gnocchi, (super small portion btw is a 30$ dish we are talking about) when It came the dish was completely dry (just the 3 gnocchi balls) however at the table they added a lot of water/soup (mushroom consommé) completely tasteless, exactly like if they just poured water on my meal killing all the desire for me to eat it. The gnocchi dissolved as I try to eat it because it started to mix with the water and the texture of it was softer than mashed potatoes so it dissolved before I could even finish it. If I say I had 4 bites it would be a lot, it ended up floating and turned into nothing I could grab with my fork. I ended up feeling like I ate nothing but air. Needless to say it was def one of the worst meals I’ve ever had, flavor could have been better without the water, the texture of that dish and the water were a bad combination. You can have a better dish made at home for less and way more enjoyable so don’t waste your time here. Terrible night for a 260$ meal (+tip). I don’t mind paying a high price for a meal if the food is worth it, well prepared and enjoyable, however this place was nothing even close to that so I won’t be coming back for sure. There’s a lot of improvement...

As a restaurant started by a celebrity chef, I had expected much better then what we received. I guess my first clue should have been that they had availability for Christmas eve mid-November. The term rooftop restaurant is a stretch. The venue is nice but is it Instagram worthy, I would strongly disagree. It’s pretty but when I compare it to places who put a lot more effort into their venues and combine it with quality food, Serra Barreira falls short.
We were there for the 2023 Christmas eve day in the city with my family that we’ve been doing for years. We’ve been going to a different restaurant each year & until now we’ve never been disappointed. We ordered a selection of apps, pastas & an entrée to share. I was disappointed that the menu was identical to what’s offered at Eataly Downtown’s La Pizza & La Pasta, where you order at the counter. Let’s start with the breadbasket. It basically consists of 2 pieces of bread either $4 with olive oil or $10 with Ronnybrook butter. Really?! I thought I misheard the waiter. For appetizers we ordered zucca arrosto. Three sections of bland undercooked butternut squash, drizzle of stracciatella & hazelnut vinaigrette. Did not taste the hazelnut. Arancini was basically 3 small bland rice balls rolling around a cake plate. No extras like sauce. For our pastas selection, we ordered the gnocchi with Parmigiano Reggiano crema & it was supposed to have Villa Manodori balsamic, but they forgot that last bit. Butternut squash ravioli was tasty, but sauce was bland. Lastly, we ordered the roasted ½ chicken that I think was mislabeled. I strongly believe it was really a Cornish game hen loaded with bits of cartilage & bone, as well as being dry. We ordered 2 cocktails, fig mule and winter old fashioned both nothing to write home about.
We’ve been going to NYC for Christmas eve for years and have enjoyed some amazing food & drinks over the year, until this year.
You need to do much better Serra Barreira!! There are amazing places that offer incredible food by non-celebrity chefs & they can beat you at any cook off.
To sum it up, spend your money elsewhere because it will be a waste to spend your hard...
Read moreI cannot review the food as we did not stay. This was a very disappointing experience for me. And I have been here three times in the past with very good experiences but today, very bad. First strike: I arrived a few minutes before my friend and told the host I would wait for her instead of being seated. When my friend arrived, I notified her (the host) and she said to give her 2 minutes. Shortly after that, she took her bag and left without a word to me. I had to notify another staff member that our party was there and we were ready to be seated. Second strike: my friend and I, both not Caucasian and both women, were seated and shortly after us 2 Caucasian men were also seated. They were served water shortly after they were seated but we were not. Third strike: Our table was by the window and the sun was pretty strong so that the vinyl seat was extremely hot. Some seats had blankets draped over them so my friend asked a server if she could have one to cover the burning vinyl seat but he said he could not give her one and to ask our server and then he walked away. At this point, we decided to ask for another table because the seat was too hot and there was no air circulation. The host was kind enough to give us another table but said she could not separate the ones closer to the bar, which were in more shade. So we agreed to sit in the partial sun. But still there was no air circulation and we were pretty much suffocating. Another staff member, a lady who didn’t appear to be in a uniform, then came and offered us water. We appreciated this but by now the damage had been done. We realized the conditions were unacceptable to us. We felt like we were in an enclosed space under the sun and without adequate ventilation and we felt very much disrespected when the 2 men who were seated after us were served before us. We left and had a very nice brunch at a much nicer place where we were treated with respect. I don’t think I will ever go back to Serra. This experience...
