This was my first time at this restaurant and I have some points i’d like to touch. To begin, I was encouraged to come to this establishment because I’ve been seeing so many ads for it. Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, I couldn’t help myself, it looked interesting. Especially with this being owned by the one and only Rikki Jai, I had a feeling that the quality had to be great. With seeing so many ads and being owned by a private celebrity, you would assume that they would be prepared for flocks and hundreds of customers on a daily basis..hint: they’re not. I visited on a Sunday, around 1:30pm. Was it busy—yes, but they seemed very unprepared. There was one woman who was very nice and holding up this place on her back; she was taking orders, cleaning tables, putting orders in and managing the bar. About the bar—this place felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant during its day. The harsh blue lighting (as you will notice in the photo below) eventually became an eyesore. My mother and I ordered a Shrimp Fried Rice ($13) and a Pepper Chicken Lo Mein ($15) and 2 Coke Cans ($3 each). While the fried rice took 10-ish minutes, the Pepper Chicken Lo Mein never arrived and we eventually decided to cancel the order after waiting 50-minutes (By this time, there was only 4 other parties in the restaurant that have already gotten served). We felt odd in this place—it was as if they prioritized people who purchased alcoholic beverages from the bar (even if they were sitting in the dining area), and those at the bar than people who just wanted to dine. We asked for glasses for the soda and they had a very weird smell to it. It smells musty and sweaty. We did alert the staff and were nice enough to rewash the glasses for us. The food: It was good. It hit each aspect that makes a Guyanese-Chinese Fried Rice distinctive. Not too salty, very flavorful from the famous “Brown Sauce”, the rice was not too soft nor too hard and had a great “bite” to it, and they did not skimp on the shrimp! There was little to no vegetables in the fried rice, and was topped with a slice of soggy cucumber that was bitter and probably frozen then thawed. As much as I did want to like this restaurant for the sake of Mr. Rikki Jai, it was hard to say “I Love It!” It is important for them to prepare for a large flow of people and maybe hire some workers to help that poor waitress out.

Rule of thumb is to never get put off by reviews ratings. If it's a place you wish to visit, then just go, create your own review. Sheriff Street Restaurant and Lounge was no exception. It has been on my radar since they opened up, as the owners are an entertainer I grew up with and his wife. I had no idea if he had a background in food. So, believe me when I read some of the reviews, I took it with a grain of salt. My Chef husband always says, "everyone had a different mother and have developed a different palate". . The Owners are Trinidadian but keep in mind that the actual menu is Guyanese, which, while very similar, the taste vary ever so slightly. . As we entered, I was immediately thrown off by the layout. It looked like more of a bar than a dining room. That being said, there were at least 6 tables with patrons eating. We were greeted and given menu within minutes. Manisha, our server took our drink orders and gave us time to review the menu. . I saw one review regarding their drinks. Sadly, we did have an issue with one of our cocktails but once we spoke with our server, it was quickly resolved and was taken off our check. We also had beers which were nice and cold. . We ordered the following items: Appetizer: Jerk Pork - the jerk sauce was one of the best we've had. The pork was moist and soft and the portion was generous. Chicken Gizzard - wasn't sure what we were expecting but it was curried. Also delicious but felt that maybe could have been seasoned with salt the enhance the flavor. Main: Pepper Lamb - the sauce itself was just right. However, as with any marinated meat, you lose some of the natural essence of the meat itself. Just enough spice Curry Chicken - served with a generous pile of white rice and dhal . The dhal was just on point. Nothing better than roasted geera (cumin) in dhal. A generous serving Curry Goat - served with rice and dhal. The meat was tender attached to the bone but fell off as you ate. The goat meat itself had good flavor and the curry was absolutely delicious. . I know there is an upstairs area. If you are in search of a quieter dining experience, ask to be seated upstairs. This will avoid the noise from the bar patrons which would be my only complaint, if I had to be quite honest. . Overall, we had a wonderful experience. Food and Service, as well as having the opportunity to chat with the owner,...

As ALWAYS My Reviews Are 100% FREE OF CHARGE And I PAY FOR EVERYTHING MYSELF....100% NON BIASED

Since I've Been Here A Few Times Already I'll Just Review The Dish....Everything Else Remains The Same As Far As The Place, Staff, Service Etc 😊

I Decided To Try One Of Their Advertised Lunch Specials...$10

Dish: Roast Pork With Mixed Veggies And White Rice

This Dish Gets A Solid 8-8.5 Out Of 10 For Me 👌👌👌

The Dish Was VERY Clean Tasting Meaning It's NOT Covered Up With A Bunch Of Sauces And Lots Of Different Veggies 👌

Caribbean/Trinbago Chinese Tends To Be Less Dressed Compared To American Chinese...This Allows You To Taste All The Individual Ingredients/Flavors....👌👌👌

Authentic Asian Is Made This Way And You Can Add Your Own Sauces To Your Liking...(Usually Supplied On The Side)

I Tend To Order Dishes For The First Time Without Making Any Modifications...I Want To See How They Make It ❤️

With That Being Said NEXT Time I'll Know How To Order...

I'm A Heavy Spice BOLD Flavors Kinda Guy.....

For Me Next Time I'll Ask For More Ginger Garlic And A Kiss More Oyster Sauce....AGAIN Personal Preference

Question Is Will I Return???....My Answer Is DEFINITELY YESsss 🥰

My Next Dish To Try Will Be A Curry...Maybe Duck ❤️

To The Owner's/Management/Staff Members My Review Was 100% Honest And Non Biased.....This Comes From A PAYING Customer
