Their lack of consistency and decent customer service (like many of the roti shops on Liberty Ave) are their downfall. Good taste and good quality can never be expected when coming here which really sucks because I really like the food when they do things right.
On average, I would say they do things perfectly 60% of the times and mess up on something the other 40% of the time. It's either the channa is too salty or the bara is too oily or they pack everything in a stupid way and all the sauce spills everywhere or the people working there are rude, etc. Like if I order 10 doubles and want the bara and sauces to be packed separately, maybe don't give me the smallest container of sauce that you have and get mad when I ask for a bigger one? Where's the logic in that?
Overall, I really don't enjoy coming here because I never know what to expect, but it's still my go-to because the doubles are better than the other places in the area. I prefer the roti from across the street though.
I also don't want to overlook the fact that they received 58 violation points on their November 2022 restaurant inspection which is equivalent to a C grade. They got inspected again on December 1st, 2022 and received only 3 violation points which is a MASSIVE improvement and better than a lot of other restaurants, but I have extremely low expectations that they can maintain this grade since they've repeated this pattern before (according to the...
Read moreI visited Tropical Jade today with my family, and it was an awful experience from start to finish. We waited in line, only to be completely ignored while multiple people who walked in after us were helped first. When I finally got to the cashier, I told her I was paying for my family. However, my aunt decided to pay for her own meal because she was very hungry and couldn't wait long. The cashier couldn't void the transaction and became visibly frustrated. She even started talking about us behind the glass, as if we couldn't hear her. It was shockingly unprofessional, unethical, and downright rude.
It wasn't just us eitherâother customers were clearly disgusted and disrespected by the staff's behavior. I overheard one gentleman telling them they were moving as slow as oil and needed to speed up, yet nothing improved. The cashier and other staff were incredibly rude, barely acknowledged us, and packed the wrong items, charging us for them regardless.
This restaurant seriously needs to improve its customer service. Treating your customers with care and respect is the bare minimum, and Tropical Jade failed miserably in this regard. I wonât be coming back, and I can only hope they make the necessary changes before they lose...
Read moreWhile looking for an authentic spot to dive into I fell upon Jade 3 a few weeks ago. Too bad no one told me I would be stumbling onto a restaurant whose customer service is as dusty as the containers they serve food in. When you first arrive at Jade 3 expect to be met with obnoxiously loud music and the rudest front of house staff possibly in the borough of queens. There was a particular male cashier that i wonât be forgetting anytime soon. He was incredibly rude, and definitely seemed to hate his job and the customers of the establishment. Not only is he continually rude, but so were the girls behind the counter.
They rush you, and force you to spew out your order all at once. This would be efficient, however the lady that took my order couldnât remember good customer service or my order. I hope the owner of this restaurant replaces the dusty containers and the dusty staff.
If thereâs anything going for this place at the current time of writing this review, it would have to be whoever the chefs are in the kitchen. Still...
