Shukriya Indian Spice and Afghan Grill — Restaurant in New York

This was my first time visiting Shukriya and I was very disappointed with everything. I have never been to an Indian restaurant with such poor-quality food, unpleasant service, and rotten atmosphere. I am Indian food connoisseur and from India, but I was unhappy with the taste of both my dishes I ordered. The first was the Goat Madras, which I managed, albeit with some unpleasantness. However, the second dish was the worst – Butter Chicken. I thought nobody could go wrong with this dish (I have taken numerous of my American friends to Indian restaurants and the only dish I give them is Butter Chicken – it is a safe dish). Yet, Shukriya getting this dish wrong is an understatement. There was absolutely no taste. Then the unpleasant service – instead of water, they provided us bottled water and charged us close to $4 for each of them! When my wife wanted to use the restroom, they were out of bathroom tissue. The way Neem, our hostess handled this was so unprofessional and unhygienic. Finally, the rotten atmosphere: there were flies and fruit flies all over the place and one of them landed in our rice – we had to return it. And then there was the person who came in speaking loudly on her cellphone and cursing while we were eating. I had the misfortune to order a takeout from this this abysmal place last weekend for a small family party. We ordered 2 platters, one is for $35 and another is for $70 before going there. Once we were there, we saw both the platters are presented in same sized trays. Although they were different in weights, thats never DOUBLE the amount of food we have paid for. Secondly, the owner did not give us the receipt for one of the platters, even after we asked for the receipts separately. He also took more money that he was supposed to and did not apologize for that. Although he gave us that money back. The food is just TERRIBLE. The kebabs were undercooked and the rice is not Afghani, just plain basmati rice with some spices. We called back to complain about the quality and service that we got and the owner/cashier treated us very disrespectfully. I am not going back there EVER, and I recommend anyone not to. Pleas do not order food from here unless you are looking for disappointment. The food has NO quality. I can't explain in words how bad the food taste was . Talking about service they are horrible. I have placed two orders to pickup and at the checkout I have asked the guy to please give me utensils and he replied its in the bag and one of my order was supposed to come with a soft drink which he didn't ask me what would I like. When I asked him to give me my drink he gave and at that moment he took out one packet of utensils and showed me that it's in the bag so I left and the when I wanted to eat as I opened the bag there was the only one packet of utensils for me for my two orders.
