Certainly among the nicer local business staff I've encountered in the city. Let's just say there's no Manhattan I-hate-my-job attitude. This is a respectable neighborhood joint and I hope it will be around for many years to come.
It's also delightfully located on a quiet and calm street. It reminds me of a small town.
Their lunch special, at $4.95, is unbelievably cheap. I got penne ala vodka. What's even more surprising is that the guy steered me toward the lunch special instead of to more expensive regular dishes. That's unheard-of among the money-grubbing and unethical local restaurants I've encountered around the city (from Morningside Heights to here in Bushwick).
The dish was also very good, not too much tomato, not too much cream. It was reasonably large and even came with a breadstick. They must not make much money per dish on the lunch special, but they know people will come back regularly and will buy other entrees, appetizers, drinks, and slices. That is how you run an ethical business that provides value to patrons and pays the employees.
My only disappointment was that they would charge $2.50 extra for broccoli. So it's a straightforward lunch special, no frills.
This is more of a delicacy than any of the trendy hipster joints displacing businesses around here -- because it's genuine.
Please give them your business and make this...
Read moreNot a professional place at all, in terms of counter service. My family often orders here a lot and I'm not talking a small order but $80 to $100 in food, from pizza to pasta plates. The issue occured when I sent in my wife In person for the first time to order us specialty slices. My wife ordered 1 margarita slice, 1 plain slice, 1 ceasar chicken slice & 1 buffalo chicken slice. The issue was the slices were so small to be labeled a specialty slice and it wasn't fresh at all, I can understand if I came during closing but it was early noon. Now the main issue is generally when I order a buffalo slice they usually give me a drizzle of ranch right on top. This guy had the audacity to charge my wife a $1.50 for a side of ranch. Why would I need 6 ounces of ranch for one buffalo slice ? Not only that my wife stated the guy had a bad attitude And I'm going to make a big assumption that this guy is hindering your business regarding food quality and customer service because the food quality hasn't been up to par from when we first ordered and now it cost you. Oh and btw...

It's day 16 of my wife and I being locked in and it was time to treat ourselves. I've had Sicily's Best a few times and loved it but of course I was nervous to get take out. It seems like Russian roulette out there with business that either take this health crisis seriously or don't.
Well, this will be our go to treat now during these weird times. The door was propped open so I didn't need to touch it and the owner was making pies with a mask on his face and sanitizing his hands regularly. He offered me a squirt of sanitizer for myself and told me that he's overpaying for it, but he wants to keep his workers clean and healthy too. I watched as he pulled my pizza straight out of the oven and into a box with no other contact.
The pie was as delicious as always. It was supposed to last until lunch the next day but it didn't make it...
