I’ve ordered takeout here a couple times when I’ve decided it’s fancy Thai night instead of cheap Thai night, but dined in recently when my mom came to town. I heard it was either queer owned or mostly had queer workers and I always try to keep my money in the family. The dishes I’ve had delivered were incredible. They have one dish with chicken and baby corn and water chestnuts that is out of this world
It is absolutely beautiful inside with tons of flowers and a nice open seating plan. I was surprised that they had lunch specials, and they are super affordable! A spring roll, a salad (With some of the best peanut dressing I’ve ever had), And an entrée for $14 or 16 if you choose a more expensive protein. I was stoked. A lunch special hates to see me coming.
My mom eats Thai food probably three times a week if not more. She was losing her mind. The spring rolls were definitely homemade, the vegetables inside them tasted so fresh. The salad as I said was amazing. My pad see ew was great as usual. But my mom declared them as having the best pad Thai ever at first bite. I tasted it and it was super rich, the sauce tasted like they were making their own tamarind paste or something. The flavor was deep and very layered. The pad see ew is my go to but I’m definitely ordering that next time. My mom left her leftovers in my fridge so once I work through those, I’ll order again. The lunch portions are normal dinner sized entrées, which are very generously sized.
I love this place and now that I’ve been inside I’m gonna have to visit a lot because it’s gorgeous in there.
** As an accessibility note, you won’t be able to get into this place if you have a wheelchair unless you are ambulatory. I’m rocking a walker these days from a broken ankle and it was really hard to navigate it through the double doors. However once inside they were totally cool about taking a chair away so I could just sit on my cool...
Read moreI really LOVE this place! But today I was disappointed in the Sercive.
It was raining all day and I came in drenched, and wasn’t having a good day at all. So I decided to come and treat myself to my one of the best Thai spots in Brooklyn in the RAIN! I arrived around 3:50pm and ordered a traditional meal right before 4pm. During that time I was debating on a spring roll. But decided to pass due to the price. After the order was made a lovely waiter told me about the discounted lunch menu which included the spring roll. She went to the back to see if the order could be changed now that it was 4:03pm. She returned back and honored it which I was very grateful for. (The lunch cut off was 4pm which I had no knowledge about)
By 4:06pm The front host approached me and was so nasty and scolding me they cannot make an exception again because I didn’t order in time. I listened in shock and confusion. She was so cold after the accommodation was made. The cost of the lunch menu change was maybe a $4difference!
I patiently waited for my food truly upset and I really wanted to walk out. Vibe was truly ruined
Moral of the story you never know what people are going through! Some people escape reality to receive a service. You should treat all your customers...
Read moreI’m half Thai and have spent nearly 10 years in Thailand; I love finding authentic Thai restaurants in the US. I was really disappointed with Klom Klorm. I honestly think their marketing is nicer than their food. The Thai restaurant name, the Thai names on the menu, the decor, etc.. they presented themselves as being more authentic than they actually are. The food does not live up to the hype… with over 800+ reviews and all the “Thai-ness”, I really had high hopes, but this is just another average, unimpressive, American-Thai restaurant. Key ingredients are missing, the taste is bland and washed out. I ordered the Tom Kha soup and I couldn’t find a single galangal, just a LOT of coconut milk and some mushrooms. It was actually sad and tasted way too coconut-y and not accurate of the delicious Tom Kha soup. Not to mention, they completely forgot to add the shrimp to my soup! How is it $11.95 for a “shrimp Tom Kha soup” with no shrimp? The sticky rice was also way too soft and not chewy enough, and the portion was tiny. And the red curry tasted like anyone could make this with the supermarket Thai red curry paste, there was NOT enough ingredients in there. For the price of the dishes, I’d say there are many more options for a better, more authentic...
