It’s a new business in the neighborhood and the owners are very kind, always open to suggestions. Overall, I would rate the food 7/10, since Peruvian cuisine usually has very high standards.
The jalea was okay in flavor, but the portion was very small (only two shrimps). In other restaurants, the jalea is bigger and can often be shared; here it felt more like a personal plate. Also, it wasn’t crispy or golden, just kind of plain — missing that crunchy touch expected in a good jalea. The green sauce was a bit salty, and there was no salsa criolla. On the positive side, the chicha morada was tasty.
I also took chicken home and it was undercooked; we Latinos usually prefer chicken well done, so that’s something to improve.
I say this with both care and hope: I want to see our neighborhood grow with good restaurants, cafés, and businesses that represent us well. But I also have to be honest — after 30 years living in this country, trying all kinds of food and visiting a wide variety of restaurants, I can’t help but feel a little like a judge when I critique flavors and experiences based on that.
In summary, the place has potential and it would be great to see them grow in the neighborhood, but they still need to work on portion sizes and...
Read moreI had this place recommended to me by a couple of friends on Instagram, and I’m so glad I tried it! I love Peruvian chifa, and besides this spot, I only knew of one other chifa restaurant in Queens. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by one of the owners, who was so kind and welcoming.
Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious — we had the house special arroz chaufa, wonton soup, fried wonton, and lomo saltado. Even my two-year-old daughter loved the food!
As a Peruvian who has tried most, if not all, of the Peruvian restaurants in Queens, I can honestly say the food and service here were amazing. The owner was so sweet and helpful, which made the experience even better. After trying this place, we won’t be going back to the other chifa restaurant we used to visit. This spot is officially in our favorites rotation, and I’ll definitely be recommending it to...
Read more⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I keep coming back to Simple Peruvian because they always deliver great food in a clean, inviting setting. The restaurant is spotless every visit, from the dining area to the restrooms, which really makes a difference.
The menu offers a fantastic range of Chinese Peruvian dishes—I’m a big fan of their pollo a la brasa and ceviche. Each plate is fresh, flavorful, and comes in generous portions. Plus, I always feel like I’m getting excellent value for my money. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes—perfect for a casual night out or a family meal.
The staff are attentive and even remembered me from my previous visits, which adds a nice personal touch. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Peruvian food in a tidy and reasonably priced spot, Simple Peruvian is definitely worth...
