Brooklyn love is not dead. Just when I thought all the bars in this city had become watered down caricatures of themselves, filled with overpriced cocktails made by bartenders who secretly hate you, I find myself in a safe haven for people to be their most authentic selves aka singers. This is now my #1 favorite place in all of NYC hands down. Literally every person who works there is so sweet and amazing and they are really trying to build a creative and caring community. They have truly unique events, fantastic cocktails, and the vibe is priceless. Think truly creative space without the elitist attitude. I felt like I was home. And dear god bless them they let me and a bunch of other families have a holiday party with like 15 three year olds. And they couldn't have been more sweet and supportive for a bunch of parents with no sizable living rooms who were desperate to give their kids a holiday party. Seriously so amazing and good vibes and I can't say enough about this place. I'd write more but I gotta go there...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is where the Gen Z gays of Brooklyn go to pretend they are better than Hells Kitchen twinks. They are in fact much worst.
The lesbians were friendlier and I spoke with a nice woman named Diana whose girlfriend had ended things after coming out as bi. I told Diana to look around at all the other women in the bar. She agreed she had lots of options to pick from. I had none (Dianaās words not mine). Toward the end of the night her ex came in and it was everything.
As for the bar itself. Itās giving not quite lived in dive bar and the amount and variety of spaces is impressive and kept it from getting boring.
The staff looked like they wanted to go home at 9 pm on a Wednesday and nobody was busing the bar or running drinks to the crowded tables.
This bar isnāt for me, though Iām not sure it wants to be. As a 30 something gay Iāll be at Animal where I belong (and where the men are nice to me).
If you live nearby or are curious check it out, at least for the stories. If you see...

I think the back room had a party and the rest of the place smelled like sat out food. There are sit down tables in the main part of the bar making it really hard to navigate the bar because there is not much space to walk in between the bar and tables. Bartender did not appear to know how to make my drink at first and heard him talk to another bartender. other bartender seemed very unhappy. Anyways, $26 for a bottom shelf long island? It was in a skinny high ball glass and i finished the drink in 5 seconds. Asked someone if they had a back area to smoke in and the bouncer told me no but then i saw about 15 people walk out there after he told me that. Was in and out in 15 mins because it was a miss for me. doubt...
