This negative review is written as a direct result of poor customer service + lack thereof from this restaurant. I placed an order with specific instructions for preparation and was billed for the wrong order. I called to report this matter and my phone call was deliberately mishandled between several workers and the restaurant manager. It’s the fact that it took me 3 phone call attempts to receive no end solution that was conducive. I requested a refund as the situation with my order was not being translated accurately. I was placed on a long hold 2x before finally calling back on my last attempt. On my final attempt, when I spoke with the manager, Samantha, and requested a refund as my matter was being mishandled in the most unprofessional and tackiest way as possible. She said that I simply paid for what I got and there’s nothing she can do about the restaurant worker messing up my order and not communicating that she did not understand what I asked for. Now here, it’s the lack of accountability, deliberate misinterpretation, and mishandling of this matter that really caused this establishment to earn this review.
I also want to emphasize that while placing my order, the worker kept cutting me off and I had to reiterate and clarify my order on several occasions for it to still get messed up.
If you ask me I think this is unfair and due to this incident, this will be the last time I’ll ever purchase food from Singh’s Roti Shop & Bar.
Majority of the times when I purchase food from this establishment I’m always receiving my food in the most sloppiest way as possible. I’m not against having loud music playing ,but this is the main reason why orders get lost in translation on the receiving end. Essentially, it’s the cause of me paying for the incorrect order.
Going forward the restaurant needs a better method of customers placing their orders while still providing the chutney/soca vibes that the restaurant is known for. In addition, the kitchen needs to revisit how the potatoes (Aloo) and Chana are prepared because on many occasions I’ve received these food items and it were under cooked. It’s why I typically have it excluded anytime I order Roti.
I can continue to go on but I’m going to end it here. I’d be lying if I said that I hope future interactions and exchanges with this establishment will be better cause as I mentioned earlier, I 100% will not return.
The message below is a response to the owner:
I'm not about to be going back and forth explaining how my order was lost in translation which resulted in me receiving and paying for an incorrect item. But I'll leave the following here- the optics that you're suggesting in your response is not 100% accurate. To reiterate again, when I placed my order at your establishment, your server kept cutting me off and not allowing me to place my entire order in it's entirety along with it's specific preparation instructions. Furthermore, when I ordered my original order for a goat roti (separated), she in returned asked me if I wanted a large goat, being that I wanted only the meat and nothing else (refer to my feedback regarding the aloo and chana). So, by default I indicated yes while still emphasizing on including the roti skin with my order. Yet, she missed that part. When I spoke with her on the phone during my 1st phone call attempt in trying to resolve this matter - she even offered to set the skin aside and have me come back for it. I declined her offer as I live far from the restaurant and couldn't do the drive again as I wouldn't have made it by the time she told me to. Which is why I requested a refund.
Again this situation is being purely mishandled in the most immature way as possible and is growing my reasoning for never returning as a customer. I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a little girl and I'm highly disappointed at the service I've received here. -1,000/10 recommend. This will get handled...
Read moreI tried to avoid writing a review but I called holding for a while to speak to the boss with no luck. This is not the first time but today at 12.30pm I was there waiting to order two guyanese ladies at front serving, don't hv the names so I am giving a description, one tall and one short. The tall lady was answering a customer talking about an attitude which customer was right, they had us just standing there, very rude , disrespectful compared to the older crew that I knew for yrs, was the best. I had a large order and while preparing the order they are discussing us the customers let us wait, having their own conversation, very unprofessional. I clearly told the short lady, separate the order. At the end she missed one order which was left back. I called she said well you had a large order, that doesn't give her the right to leave stuff back, she should be glad I am giving the business or else she wouldn't have a job. Honestly some don't look like they want to be there and are definitely rude and their faced look mad like customers shouldn't be there. Last time they left my roti back, they are too focused on gossiping and not focused on the orders. Just wanted this issue to be be addressed. I have been a customer for over 20yrs but attitude of staff , some definitely changed and unprofessional. Not good for business but the food is delicious. Please note some of the employees are intimidating and making fun of customers while preparing order, I witnessed that today and many other times. I paid a lot of money today and this lady did not give me my money worth of...
Read moreGreat selection of Caribbean eats, the curry is on point and they get 4 stars for fast service, I would've liked more flavor in the dish, they rank 3rd on my list for east indian dishes.
Update 11/2023 I recently went there (a Friday) to buy a goat roti dish, I made certain I told the server (a lady with gold teeth) what I wanted, dhalpuri separate not wrapped. Everything went as requested it was bagged up and none of their entrees behind the glass are marked. Maybe they need to do this because, when I reached my destination, I saw I received a chicken curry dish with curry mango. It overpowered the spice and flavor of the chicken and the chicken had a bland taste to it. Being that I was already far from the restaurant at home I couldn't even call it was too late. I returned that Sunday to let someone there know that the order was wrong. That same server looked at me and denied that she served me, and on top of that was rude. I don't plan to return there anytime soon because, it seems they screw up orders even in subtle ways and don't care. The taste of their food is not like it used to be, seems like some just work for a check.
Update: Nothing has changed since the last time, 1yr. later except prices are higher and new faces. I asked for pepper, none detected but was charged $2.00 extra without warning for another...
