I’ve been here a few times, and it’s a straight-up, dead-center 5 out of 10. No love, no hate, just food on a plate. You won’t gag, but you won’t write home about it either. Thirty seconds after you step back onto Avenue U, the only thing you’ll know for sure is that you’re not hungry anymore. No joy, no regret. Just full. The waitstaff moves like they’ve got places to be, and the guy who took my payment had that rare, almost mythical quality—he actually seemed to like his job. Prices? Reasonable in the way that getting punched in the gut is better than getting punched in the face. The food? Imagine a truck stop cafeteria off I-95 where the cook lost his passion somewhere between Scranton and Baltimore. That’s about right. So if you’re standing outside, squinting at this place, wondering whether to go in, ask yourself one thing—do you feel like walking? Because if the answer is yes, take that impulse and follow it. Five blocks in either direction, and you’ll eat something that reminds you food is supposed to be good.

I have an old tradition of getting breakfast at a diner on the first Sunday of the month. Lately, I been going by myself since, most of my friends are trying to eat healthier. I decided to visit this diner since it's relatively close to where I live. Upon entry, I wasn't greeted or directed to anything. So, I waited for a few minutes and sat down at a booth. I waited for another 10 - 15 minutes until I had to flag someone to retrieve a menu. And then another, 10 minutes before I was able to flag someone down to order. I ordered the basic scrambled eggs with toast and fries for $6.50. The food is on the pricier end especially, with the smaller quantity. Other diners do offer early bird specials, such as a free beverage. The food was on par with other diners. Nothing out of the ordinary, except how quick I got the bill before I even finished eating. Nor did anyone check in on me. A bit disappointed with the lackluster service but, I will visit again.

I stopped in here with my son yesterday afternoon for a quick lunch and it was so yummy! We got the cheese quesadilla, the Texas burger, and the apple pie. We also each got hot chocolates. They were so good! The staff were really nice. Also, since the place was kind of empty, they even suggested we sit in a bigger booth. We really enjoyed ourselves here. Would definitely come back.

Went in the side door and walked through the pool table area, and game area. There were people sitting at the bar and the girls said can I help you then my wife almost fell as there is an unmarked step to get off the platform to the bar food area. We got two gyros which we thought we’re going to come with French fries instead the french fries were wrapped into the Gyro. The gyros were cold. The meat was not warm at all. The french fries were cold and soggy. I’m sorry to say the Giro was terrible overall. The cost for that was almost $38. Eat half of mine and threw the rest in...
