A Culinary Gem for Vegans and Non-Vegans Alike My recent visit to Starving Vegan was nothing short of delightful. As someone who doesn't strictly adhere to a vegan diet, I was both intrigued and pleased by the range and depth of flavors presented in their dishes. I opted for the large fried mushroom dinner, a generously portioned dish that allowed me to choose four sides. My selections included rice and peas, fried plantain, steam mixed veggies, and chickpeas & chana. Each component was a testament to the chef's ability to season food perfectly—every bite was rich in flavor without being overwhelmingly salty. What truly stood out was the personalized service. As an indecisive diner and a chef myself, I appreciated the guidance from Dexter, who helped narrow down my options. His recommendation was spot on, making my dining experience memorable. The fresh squeezed juices were a highlight, too. I indulged in mango passion fruit and passion fruit juices, both of which were refreshing and complemented my meal beautifully. The ambiance of Starving Vegan is welcoming, with ample seating for those wishing to dine in. I enjoyed my meal at the front counter, which offered a casual and friendly atmosphere. I'm eagerly looking forward to my next visit, particularly to try their roti, available exclusively on weekends. Starving Vegan is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore vegan cuisine without compromising on taste or quality. See you again soon!

Superb, will characterize the word delicious, as I aptly apply it to the dishes that I ordered at Starving Vegan. I began my sit-down meal with Curry Chicken. My two combo side orders were rice and beans and chickpeas. The rice was cooked to sheer perfection. This savory dish capitalizes on a bevy of sophisticated flavors. On a side note, the curried flavor is not heavily spiced, it's actually mild in taste. After enjoying this tasty meal I decided to order a second dish. This time I ordered the ever-popular Citrus Chicken. It is easy to see why Citrus Chicken is Starving Vegan's signature dish. I paired it with rice and beans and for a little more sweetness, I added plantains. With each bite, I happily planned my next visit to Starving Vegan. I'm looking forward to more savory goodness......!!!!

This is my first time making a review for Starving Restaurant but I had to make a review because I experienced a bad reaction with eating takeout from this restaurant on Friday September 5, 2025. I brought many times from Starving Vegan and I always buy the same food lo mein and citrus chick’n with quinoa and ital vegetables and a piece vegan blueberry lemon cake . But with this order the beans smelled bad and spoiled. The lo mein was not great. The beans was so bad it messed my stomach. I had to throw the food entire food out. This was a waste of my money. Also, the cake tasted soggy buttery and not fresh. I don’t think I will be buying from Starving Vegan again.

Great tasting food and great customer service, BUT I, along with a relative and a friend (who I bought food/drink for) DID GET SICK from the Soursop drink they sell. There was no date written on the bottles so I believe it may have been old. Here's how it went down.

I came on August 3rd and ordered food to takeout. There was only one couple in the place. The staff was friendly. As I sat waiting for my food, the staff asked if I wanted my drink that I had ordered, so I chose Soursop flavor and drank it. My food came and I went to the car where I started eating. I had ordered the citrus chicken lunch. I started to feel weird but I assumed it was because I had the sweet drink on an empty stomach. I didn't eat much because I wasn't feeling well. I felt sickly in my stomach and kept burping.

My relative was driving so she drank the Soursop drink first (she then mentioned she thought it was too sweet) and then started eating later. A few moments later she complained of cramps in her stomach and said she felt like she had to throw up. I continued on to meet my friend and my relative went home. I told my friend I think the drink is too sweet and that it made me feel weird so my friend then ate first and then drank. A few minutes later she complained of feeling sick. Her symptoms were worse than mine. She felt like she had to throw up. The next couple hours we walked around slowly while she held a plastic bag in front of her in case she threw up.

When I went home that day, my relative told me that she had used the restroom and that helped her feel better. I also used the restroom and after that I was fine. It took my friend a few days to get better.

It is unfortunate that this happened because the food was tasty. I am not opposed to going back but I would not buy another drink from there again. Going forward, Staff should WRITE THE DATE THE DRINK WAS MADE ON THE BOTTLE.

I believe it was the drink that made us sick as the food did take quite a while to come (so I believe it was freshly made).

Overall, great customer service and great tasting food, but just be mindful...

The space is really clean and open. The food was really good the first time I visited. However, the second time it was a bit flavorless.

First visit: I ordered a mushroom burger, lentil soup and a curry plate… which was really good. The food had a great flavor and it wasn’t too salty, it held together well, and the ingredients placed in the burger wasn’t messy. Perfect!

Second visit: I was so excited about my first experience; I told a friend and we went again and tried out the mushroom burger again but this time we added fries. Let’s get into it!!!…So I never try places more than once; So this was a first for me…. And I’ll just tell you I wasn’t very pleased. The oil used to make the burger was differently used and/or burned because the flavor/color of the mushroom burger was significantly different from the first time I tried it. The burger was extremely black and just taste like burnt oil. He did put some sauce on the side that eased the taste but it wasn’t like the first time. I ordered sweet potato fries he didn’t have it so he decided to just give me normal fries, which I couldn’t eat so my friend had it. When I informed him that he should just call next time to let me know that they don’t have the fries so I can make a different choice in food. He told me I can cancel the order if I want to. I think his response is a bit forward, but hey, that’s just me.

Overall, the food is...
