Hidden inside a classic Deco office building across the street from Grand Central is heaven. It had been 2 years since my 1st visit & it was just as great. Greeted in a beautifully decorated entryway, you know the transformation process of escaping NY to Thailand was well thought out. The staff immediately welcome you in a warm genuine Thai demeanor.
Shoes come off immediately which denotes the importance of cleanliness & just like home , the start of relaxation. The rooms are lush meets traditional in color & decor. Some rooms have tables, some floor mats I’d had both & enjoyed equally. I asked which the masseuse prefer, they replied depends on type of massage, but can work well on either. Floor massage isn’t very common so newcomers should def try it, very Thai!
60 minutes of bliss happens from head to toes. Intense stretching makes Thai massage unique, However, not mandatory if not comfortable with it. Pay special attention to the flow of the massage and the breadth of your masseuse and yourself. Inhale when moving from one spot to the next.. exhale when pressure is applied for deeper release. I form an image in my mind of a sponge & soap in which the sponge is muscle & pressure squeezes out the soap - tension.
The staff is the sweetest, warm & professional. The atmosphere is perfect for transporting you without trying too hard.
If you’ve never had Thai massage, go here first. If you’ve had it, in Thailand as I have been so fortunate to do and are jonesing for it in NYC.. go! Pricing is good, especially when it’s all hands on time spent! No jacuzzi, no steam room, Just 100% authentic Thai massage. Thanks for...
Read moreon arrival the welcome was grumpy and no drink was offered. Massage was ok. Afterwards I went into the waiting room. Again no cold water was offered. The grumpy manager in a Pink costume instantly appeared and said "How you pay" ??? I was taken aback and replied "I already paid online when booking" she then said "for tip?" at this point I could see my therapist standing behind the manager. I said "oh ok and started to look in my pockets for the tip money I had prepared" fumbling a little due to the glare upon me I produced a $5 dollar note . Both of these ladies faces now turned to anger oblivious to the fact that I had intended to bring out a $20 note. I eventually found the $20 note and happily handed it over to the therapist. At this point they both looked like I had given them terrible news and the pink one demanded that I pay 20% which was $40 .. now in the Uk you dont tip for massages In fact my therapist there thinks its a 'Racket' I understand that im in the states but $40 for a tip is too much the pink one should pay her staff more. She then said 'YOU PAY MORE IF YOU ENJOY' . Funny thing is no one asked me if I enjoyed the massage when it was over and no one offered me a drink of water or anything just has her hand out for 'payment'.. a server or therapist should NEVER demand a tip! The thing is the Therapist let go of gas wind a few times during the treatment. Is that normal? Ive been to Thailand many many times and this was never part of the treatments previously? Ive got a tip for you after all. No more gassy gas in small room at head height whilst paying customer relax........
Read moreI really really wanted to give this place a five-star review, because the massage was fantastic. However upon checking out I was informed that my massage had been done by the wrong therapist ( I had booked in with the owner not realising what she looked like). The masseuse who did my massage insinuated that this was my fault even though she did not question me or introduce herself when I was in the waiting room, instead just calling me into the room to have my massage done.
I will make it known that the owner herself (Fern)was very apologetic for the mix-up and refunded my money and organised for a new transaction so that I could pay the therapist who did my massage.
When I had booked in the first time the booking said that a tip had been included in the total price however my masseuse ( who never gave her name.) Advised that this was not the case with her and that I would have to pay a tip. I offered her cash to which she said would be fine. I handed her cash(around $20 in total ) to which she proceeded to count in front of me( very rude) and then replied 'no the tip is 20%, this is not enough". I informed her that tipping is not law it is customary and that was all the cash I had on me. I offered to go get more cash out but she was insistent I pay by card . This meant having to refund me again and include a 20% tip, this process left me around $300 out of pocket untill the refunds clear.
So honestly I left not so relaxed after this experience which was a shame as the massage itself was fantastic. The admin by the masseuse,...
