Sullivan bakery should train their staffs. I ordered a regular coffee while I was waiting for my friend (January 6, 2023 at 6 PM). We would have pizzas. The staff (a white girl) took my order. Then she was asking her black male colleague to make some coffee for me. She pronounced Coffee as CUFI, and her colleague didn’t understand her. Then she pronounced it right way and her colleague was surprised, why she just pronounced differently. Then she said something to his ear, and then the guy was also saying the word Coffee as CUFI. And then looking at me in between with a smirk. I know how to pronounce the word. But I guess, my Indian appearance made her judgmental and racist. My friend came in 10 minutes. She is white, and she ordered two pizzas and a drink, and paid $45. She was treated very fairly. However, I didn’t discuss this with her. The coffee was cold like water. Maybe because of the milk, which was in the cooler. I approached the black dude (probably he is blatino), and he changed my coffee. I asked him not to mix milk this time, just black coffee is fine. He was then telling me, next time if I order coffee, I should ask them to “Steam” the milk, and it tastes so good with the CUFI !! (He might have thought I never had coffee with steamed milk, apparently they both have made their mind that I may have just landed to the US and India doesn’t have steamed milk!). My friend heard him saying CUFI while handing me a new cup of coffee (with no milk this time), and she thought maybe this is his accent, CUFI, but I know what’s going on. This is really inappropriate that someone would be teased and mocked because of his or her appearance. They are still young, and I hope they will...

I've heard so many people raving about this place that I wanted to try it out myself. We had lunch there with my husband on Sunday - hubby is a huge bread-lover so he had high hopes. The place itself doesn't really appealing from the outside, and when we entered I felt odd: the breads and all the food look gorgeous, but the tables and the sitting area where we finally sat down was kinda creepy, I felt like I was sitting in a school eatery... We ordered 2 slices of pizzas, a bomboloni, and two sandwiches. The staff is kind and friendly, we got our freshly made scrambled egg sandwiches quite quickly. Both sandwiches were great, the Formaggi was really full with cheese, but the Verdura one barely had any veggies. Anyways, the scrambled eggs in both sandwiches were phenomenal! Sadly the pizzas were mediocre and cold. The bomboloni in reality is a very good donut - the dough is absolutely perfect, but I was a bit disappointed as I was hoping for more filling, but there's only literally just about a teaspoon of it in the donut. For almost $4 is definitely not cheap, and the place itself is on the pricey side in general too. I saw more interesting dishes on the menu, so I would go back to try...

There's so many bread options and we were super excited. We got the whole loaf sourdough, tomato bread, mushroom bread, olive oil cake, and chocolate chip cookie. The sourdough has a nice crust and is soft in the middle. It was warm when we got it and our server told us that they can only slice it in 1inch slices because the bread is still warm otherwise it'll crumble apart while being sliced. It was nice of them to recommend that! The tomato bread with the roasted tomatoes was delicious! It's perfectly seasoned and the roasted tomatoes were so sweet. The mushroom bread was alright but definitely tasted better once we warmed it up at home. The olive oil cake was light with a strong orangey citrus flavor and wasn't too sweet. The chocolate chip cookie is great! It's big and crispy on the edges but soft in the middle. It does have salt on the top and can get a bit salty. I'm not a fan of salt on my cookies but I still loved it. Highly recommend Sullivan street bakery and I'll definitely go back to try...

I was excited to get my hands on one of the yummy French pastries that the reviews boasted. I got the one of the raspberry bombolonis (Italian donut resembling a regular filled donut). The dough was soft and fresh - cloudy and not overpoweringly sweet. The filling was delectable - real raspberry filling that wasn’t just on one side of the donut. There was no filling coming out onto my hands because the dough was so fresh. The pastry was so small for $4. Everyone seems to love the coffee which I’ll consider getting next time. But it was a bit much for something so small — but a good splurge!
