Joe Coffee Company: Chelsea — Restaurant in New York

Visited here Oct 9th 2022. Had 20 minutes before an appt and wanted a delicious coffee. Upon entering I noticed a handful of people waiting but no one in line so didn't think much. I placed an order for 2 mochas and a banana bread. The cashier was fairly dismissive, definitely didn't want to be there. When I asked about heating up the banana bread which was handed to me straight from the fridge, I was told they don't do that here. I stepped to the side to wait for my coffees and noticed that no one waiting had received there's yet. I proceeded to wait for almost 30 minutes for my 2 small mochas and while waiting watched the 2 staff members - the cashier constantly insulting the barista with how slow he was moving (he was obviously very new) but not offering to help at all as he proceeded to make one coffee at a time for all the waiting customers. And her standing there doing nothing to help the process. The cashier also would 'welcome' anyone who walked in and when they didn't respond immediately she would scream it louder and more obnoxiously as though the customers were ignoring her purposefully.

Advised 2 groups entering as I walked out that unless they wanted terrible service and had 30+ minutes to spare I'd recommend going elsewhere.

This experience ruined the taste for this...

Just want to update that the Chelsea refurbishment looks great. Love the seats, very comfy.

I’m very particular about my coffee, usually have a cup to start my day and another mid afternoon. Joe Coffee offers an excellent house brew. I frequent the Chelsea location. It attracts a varied and friendly crowd. They have wi-fi although I find I often like to sit and read, whether indoors or at one of the tables outside. Just a great way to unwind. The baristas are very friendly. They have a nice menu with some pleasant teas when I’m looking for a change of pace. But I really like their house brew, probably the best in the city. Their app works flawlessly and the rewards on every purchase are a nice perk. You can even order ahead via the app, convenient when you just want to grab and go.

Stopped by with 4 family members while visiting the High Line today. The barista ( only employee on duty in the late afternoon) was pleasant and efficient; offering various milk options. Despite the crowd that came in after us, she managed to keep all the orders straight. She's definitely an asset to the company. The coffees were acceptable. Our issue was the pastries that were purchased- 2 chocolate croissants, a chocolate chip scone and cherry vanilla scone. The chocolate in the croissants was hard, like a chocolate bar and the scones were stale and cracker-like. It was a very disappointing and expensive visit. I'll be hesitant to try this brand...
