After shooting at an undisclosed New York location for an undisclosed non-New York brand, the Art and Image Director chose the Butcher's Daughter for a celebration meal. Let's just say the location rhymes with "Batz"......... hehehehehe. I can't say anymore or Shiva would have my head on a platter.
On the walk over, all 5 of us were so hangry that we weren't really talking much, just one of those awkward walks where everyone is in a daze and staying quiet to kind of keep the peace. We pulled up to the Butcher's Daughter around noon, hungrier than a 2008 Kobe Bryant post Celtics loss. We left our all in "Batz."
Upon arrival, we were met with a beautiful exterior and outdoor patio engulfed by yellow and white striped umbrellas. The chairs were also the same yellow, and the wooden tables outside weren't from Ikea if you know what I'm saying. This attention to detail continued to the interior. Fairplay, Butcher's Daughter.
We get inside and scan the menu, now hungrier than a 2006 Kobe Bryant. The Art and Image Director and I both get the Healing Harvest Bowl, as we need a good portion size of clean food to refuel. For full transparency, I would have gotten whatever he got to try and build some rapport with him hehe (shy monkey emoji).
When the bowl came, our disappointment was immeasurable for a few reasons:
This portion size is TINY. I would have had no issue if it was a $10 bowl, but for $18?!?!?!?! Well I added an impossible patty so it came out to $21, but thank god I did. I blew right through this thing and felt like I had just eaten a pack of almonds and some dried seaweed.
This bowl was ALL Quinoa, with a small handful of sweet potatoes and arugula. "They should call this the Quinoa bowl" the Art & Image Director said. "The Quinoa bowl for ants..." I respond with, hoping to get a laugh. It worked. WE UP!
The avocado was HARD af, just so uncomfortable to bite through. When the Art and Image Director asked if that was normal, the server said “they are just not ripe.” Honestly I never would have mentioned this in a review because I understand some food is just seasonal, BUT he literally had a shirt on that said “Eat All the Avocados.” I just thought that was way too ironic to not mention here ahahahahaha.
All in all, I acknowledge that the food quality here is fantastic, but the portion size for the price is criminal.

Read moreMy friends and I recently visited for brunch and while we initially enjoyed the lively ambiance and delicious food, our experience was unfortunately marred by the poor service provided by our waitress, Danielle W.
From the outset, we encountered issues with the service that significantly detracted from our dining experience. Despite the fact that two of our friends were running late, Danielle rushed us to place our orders, creating an uncomfortable situation where we felt pressured to decide hastily. This lack of professionalism persisted throughout our meal, as we received no apology or acknowledgment for the incorrect item that one of our party received, nor for the fact that my glass for an espresso martini arrived broken. Throughout the meal, there was a notable absence of attentiveness from the staff, as no one checked if everything was satisfactory or if we required any assistance, not even refilling our water glasses.
What truly soured our experience, however, was the behavior of our waitress during the payment process. When one of my friends opted not to leave a tip through the card machine, intending to provide a cash tip instead, Danielle rudely insisted that she select a tip option and even peered at her hands. Despite our reassurance that we intended to leave a cash tip, her dismissive attitude persisted, culminating in her rolling her eyes and walking away without even clearing our table.
To add insult to injury, as we were preparing to leave, she saw a random $10 bill on the table. Danielle approached us with an air of entitlement, insinuating that the money was intended as a tip for her. She looked at it and she said "$10?!". After we told her that it's not for her ad we are not done yet she rolled her eyes again and walked away. Her behavior was not only disrespectful but also unwarranted, considering the subpar service we had received.
It is truly disheartening to witness such a lack of customer service skills from a member of staff, particularly in an establishment that prides itself on delivering a memorable dining experience. I am deeply disappointed by this incident and concerned that the actions of one individual could tarnish the reputation of an otherwise excellent establishment.
I sincerely hope that management takes appropriate action to address this issue and ensure that similar incidents do not occur...
Read moreThis review is for the Kenmare St. location only, as it's the one I've visited. Breakfast on Tuesday morning, I walk in with relatives. The first thing I noticed was a rather unwelcoming server, asks for proof of vaccination like everywhere else. The second thing that I really disliked was the smoke, since the kitchen appears to be open and behind the counter, so much that I'm surprised that the fire alarm didn't go off. I don't enjoy this because I know that my clothes and hair will hold that strong scent for the rest of the day, even my handbag still smells. Loud music, not bad just loud. Not enjoying the atmosphere at that point, but the worst part was when my husband walks in minutes later to say hello, as he was in the area, and walks a few steps where we were seating, wearing his mask and standing. The gentleman/server asks in a very intimidating manner for proof of vaccination, in such a rude and inappropriate way that we all went quiet. My husband pulled it from his phone, and this man still stares at him like they were about to fight, so unnecessary and thuggish, just out of place. Apparently this gentleman got upset because he thought that my husband had ignored him when he first walked in, but they are blasting the music at 9am in a tiny space and it turns out that my husband is a veteran with hearing problems. Honestly, it was so unpleasant and inappropriate that at this point we wanted to eat quickly and leave. I will never go back, or at least will not go in if I see that this person is serving. Who wants the aggravation? My mom liked her breakfast though, but my croissant was very hard and chewy. No love lost from me, the server should be happy that business is busy like it used to be before the pandemic, but instead he chose to behave like a thug. And now that I'm reading the newest reviews (all of them mention an aggressive waiter), I bet my life that we are all talking about the same guy....
