First off, this place was surprisingly difficult to find. I had to ask three staff members before one kindly walked me to the dedicated elevator that leads to the fifth-floor garden. It's described as a rooftop garden bar, but in reality, it feels more like a simple coffee stand.

The view is beautiful and offers a nice breath of fresh air from the museum, but don’t expect a full bar experience. I ordered a sparkling wine and was given it in a plastic cup. The food options were very limited and didn’t look particularly appetizing, and the alcoholic beverage selection was minimal as well.

There were no tables or chairs, not even high tops, which made it hard to enjoy the space. The cashiers weren’t especially friendly but still prompted a 20% tip. I’d recommend visiting the rooftop for the view, but there’s really no need to...

I've been to the Met numerous times. At first I wasn't aware about this rooftop access. Then I knew about it but never remembered to make it a stop. I finally made it today thanks to "The Roof Garden Commission: Lauren Halsey" exhibit!

The rooftop (elevator to the 5th level) has a good view of the West Side skyline across the Central Park. It'd have been worth a stop by itself, but now with Lauren Halley's Egyptian themed exhibit, the wow factor has more than doubled. We spent a good 30 minutes to soak it all in.

There is an outdoor bar right next to the entrance. You exit at a different door which leads to stairs down to the 4th floor instead of elevators. I didn't ask but I would presume a wheelchair bound person would be allowed to exit from...

A visit to the Cantor Roof Garden Bar at the Met Museum is an absolute must. Not only can you enjoy a captivating exhibit, but the panoramic views on offer are nothing short of breathtaking. While we didn't indulge in any drinks, the overall ambiance and setting were truly splendid. Here's a tip: make the most of the extended hours on Fridays and Saturdays, as the museum remains open until 9pm. The evening hours present the rooftop in its most enchanting light, although be prepared for sizable crowds. During our recent visit last week, the space was brimming with visitors, attesting to...

Best Rooftop in NYC The BEST Rooftop in NYC belongs to the The Cantor Roof Garden Bar, otherwise known as the rooftop terrace of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The rooftop bar offers cocktails, wine by the glass, and light snacks such as chips and popcorn. You can also just take in the skyline! Seating is limited but there are a number of benches. Great for all ages and the perfect photo op when visiting the museum. If you haven’t visited yet you need to hurry! The seasonal rooftop closes for the season October 23rd. WHERE: 📍Metropolitan Museum of Art. 1000 Fifth Avenue. WHEN: ⏰Rooftop closes for the season October 23rd. The Roof Garden bar hours: Sunday–Tuesday and Thursday: 11 am–4:15 pm; Friday and Saturday: 11 am–8:30 pm; Closed Wednesday. TICKETS FOR RESIDENTS: 🎟NY State residents and NY, NJ, and CT students can pay as they wish - the amount is up to you! These special tickets cannot be reserved in advance/must be purchased onsite at the museum admission desk. GENERAL ADMISSION: 🎟$30 Adults, $17 Students. Children under 12 are Free! FOR KIDS: 🎈Be sure to grab the FREE Kids Family Map at the admission desk. It has an awesome seek and find poster sized map (a la Where’s Waldo style) and activity pack for kids. After the museum be sure to visit the awesome Ancient Playground just steps away from the entrance. GOOD TO KNOW: 📕Where’s the art? The rooftop typically displays a large art commission every Summer. The planned 2022 commission by Lauren Halsey has been pushed back a year due to logistical issues. @metmuseum #metmuseum #met #rooftop #nycrooftop #visitnyc #thingstodoinnyc #newyorktips #newyorkertips #freenyc #nyckids #citykids
