If you're considering visiting this establishment, here’s something to keep in mind: leaving a critical review may result in being barred from entry, even years later. I’ll admit, I wasn’t always the perfect customer, so I could understand if that played a role in their decision. However, I was told explicitly that the reason I was no longer welcome was because I wrote a review and didn’t take it down when asked.

The owner would like it noted that they “treated me well” and “hooked me up” with complimentary drinks on occasion. However, there was no acknowledgment of the significant amount of money I spent there, especially during the pandemic, when they weren’t even allowed to operate fully. My friends and I continued to support them during that challenging time, only to be kicked to the curb afterward.

This place might appeal to those seeking a late-night cocktail or bite, but beyond that, I’d recommend exploring other options. While some might enjoy the atmosphere, others may find it overpriced and a bit pretentious—expect to pay around $20 for a glass of wine from a $10 bottle. It will be too dark to see anything and it will be crowded. The bartenders can be kind but often they can be snobby and rude.

Keep in mind I am pulling many punches with this review as I am trying to be cordial. Take this information as you will and decide...

I recently started going to The Coupe with a friend of mine who recommended it. It feels like I'm in midtown Manhattan when I go.. it's like a slice of Manhattan and Staten Island. The staff really works to provide a totally different environment than what you normally encounter in Staten Island. I'm writing this review because I wanted to express how much of a great time I've had when I go. Specifically one night I ordered something that I usually order, and this one night it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I didn't mean to complain, but I told the bartender that I was disappointed in what I received. Roy graciously took care of me, and promised me a better plate next time I entered. He apologized and asked me to reach out to him the next time I was coming so that he could be aware and make sure that I was taken care of. When I arrived he did just that and the plate I received was stellar. It's more the way that everyone there cared about my dissatisfaction and worked on that day and then the following visit to ensure that I was satisfied and serviced well. I feel like the measure of customer service is greater when you encounter an issue with a proprietor and result that issue with care. I was very satisfied, and I'm actually on my way there for another great night...

Went for the first time this morning around 2am. I have to say this might be my new favorite spot. Service was excellent the drinks were good and reasonable priced. For food I got one of the cheese platters. I'm a lover of cheese and have done plenty of cheese tasting. There's was very good for the price. My only con is it was very very dark. While I did like it alot because of my bad eye sight it was hard to see the menu. But then comes the service. When the bar tender realized I was having a bit of trouble seeing he helped me out and even brought over a candle so I can see a little better. I will definitely be going back. I wasn't a fan of the music to be honest because I didn't feel it fit the atmosphere. For such a dimly lit laid back place the music should be soft...

The best hidden cocktail bar on SI. Edward was our bartender and made the "Bartenders Choice" cocktails for us. He asked our spirit and flavor preferences and made these amazing cocktails. One spicey made with mezcal and tequila with honey, bitters and a cheese stuffed pepper as garnish..and the other with tequila, carrot juice, lime, other flavors garnished with basil, flowers and some nutmeg. There is a small food menu with cheeses, meats and sides.

The drinks were great! Asked for the Bartender’s Choice which basically involves them making you a custom cocktail based on your preferences. The bartenders are so pleasant and clearly passionate about their work. Great prices for the quality, and the chocolate truffles are to die for! It's a bit dark inside, but after a few visits the atmosphere has grown on me :)
