Flying from LaGuardia today back to Florida with my daughter, our flight kept getting delayed again and again. Once it was clear we were in it for the long haul, we decided to leave the airport and go grab something real to eat.
We ended up at Hot Spot BBQ and Grill in Queens. It was perfect. Exactly what we needed. Great fast food, but with a more elegant, comfortable feel than a typical fast food place. Reuben was running the front of house and he was fantastic. Super friendly, helpful, and really made sure we were taken care of.
My daughter got the kids hot dog and French fries. I ordered the Hangover Burger without the bun, with a side of coleslaw. Beef burger, pastrami, onion rings, fried egg, grilled onions, lettuce, and spicy aioli. I skipped the tomato. The guy at the table next to me ordered it with the bun and it looked like a serious sky scraper of a burger.
For dessert we got the chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream. A classic, and done really well. Hot and gooey in the middle, just how it should be.
I'd definitely come back, hopefully without any flight delays next time....
Read moreDisclaimer: The food here is SPECTACULAR! I have been to this place a few times and had a mostly positive experience throughout. This review is STRICTLY with respect to the lack of urgency of a situation I encountered during my last visit. Specifically, I found a piece of glass in my food last week and notified them immediately that night. However, I decided to go back to give them another shot tonight and was frustrated for two reasons: 1) a clear lack of urgency for the issue that I experienced with the glass, and 2) a lack of consistency in presentation and quality. Not to be trivial, but I received fries about less than a handful and was shocked, since they forgot to include an order of fries during my last visit. This entire experience was very serious for me as I almost swallowed the glass and did not appreciate it being shrugged off tonight. Luckily, that was not my 3-year-old nephew's order. I hope they remedy these issues because the food here is really great and is a great addition to the...
Read moreI personally went to high school with 2/3 owners of this kosher restaurant. They are really nice guys who know what guys want to eat at a fast food restaurant. They put a lot of time into creating their menu and all the recipes within it. I am extremely impressed with their work.
The restaurant also went through a huge renovation recently, and it looks much nicer/put together.
I know many young guys, including my younger brother, who are infatuated with this place because of the food there. My brother and I, when we go, get a large brisket fries to share and burger for each of us. It really fills us up, and it is always an amazing time. Their food really has amazing flavors, and they should take pride in their work.
For Kosher Questions: Their Hashgacha is VHQ All their meat is Beit Yosef All their bread is Yoshon (except the hot dog buns from what i remember the...
