I come to The Kova every weekend because the food is always fantastic, and it’s truly one of my favorite spots on Staten Island. However, during my recent visit, the service left me feeling disappointed. We sat down, pulled out a notebook and laptop to get a bit of work done while waiting, but instead of taking our order, the staff proceeded to serve other guests who had arrived after us. When they eventually came over, they informed us that using a laptop wasn’t allowed, even though we explained it was just to pass the time until our food arrived.
As someone who visits weekly, I’ve come to expect the same warm and attentive service that initially made this place feel special. This experience made me question the consistency of service quality here. While I hope it was just a one-off, it did feel disheartening as a loyal customer to be overlooked and restricted without much consideration.
I’ll still come back because the food is worth it, but I hope this feedback encourages a bit more thoughtfulness in service. Loyal customers notice when things change, and I’d love to see The Kova get back to its usual,...
Read moreSuper cute addition to Staten Island, the vibe, decor, music were excellent for a brunch! Coffee was delicious and pretty, just how I like it! Utensils, dishes were tasteful and I appreciate those details, it makes a big part of the overall experience! Customer service was superb -they really go above and beyond to make sure you have the best experience! For example, the salad dressing was too spicy for me and they took it off the bill. My advice for the future, so this doesn't happen again is to let customers know in advance the level of spiciness! Potatoes were delicious but egg whites were a little undercooked! Overall, the food can further be perfected but given that they just opened up, and listen to customer feedback, I am sure, they will do great! I'll definitely come back to try...
Read moreI'm truly addicted to the lavender latte. Another thing I'm addicted to? The wasabi aioli on the fried chicken sandwich. It's a very different kind of chicken sandwich, like a... chicken tenders sandwich! A very interesting experience. All food comes out ready to be devoured and is so filling.
I've also had the salmon eggs benedict here too. What a lovely brunch to have with the home fries!
The restaurant has a couple of seats, I'd suggest eyeing the lower chairs / tables right next to the milk/sugar station IF they are empty - probably the best seats in the house. Decor and space is very atheistically pleasing to the eye.
I'm glad I live so close to a new addition like this to the neighborhood. Staff are super friendly and attentive. I can see them really be part of the...
