They just opened today so it is a bit chaotic but overall the food is pretty good, on par with what you would get in Brooklyn, Flushing, and Manhattan chinatowns. Their Fried Dough “you tiao” is one of the best I’ve had outside of Taiwan though. I hope they can continue to improve their food and service and not go downhill as many new places tend to do.
My two complaints were: My rice rolls did not come with any sauce. Thankfully I can make sauce myself at home.
The lady who took our order said 10-15 minutes so we paid first, I took my mom home before returning, 20 min or so endeavor and when I got back, I still had to wait and they forgot I paid already. (They need a system or stamp to show order is paid).
Edit: day 2, I called ahead for order, was told 10-15 minutes and now it has been 45 minutes…still no food. I only ordered 3 rice rolls, 2 fried dough sticks, 1lb roast park, and congee….
I witnessed a guy take 15 minutes to get the bill, a whole table sat and waited 10 minutes before walking out without ordering due to the wait.
This is not good… despite how good the food is, this is abysmal service.
2nd update. 70 minutes later I have no food. They never even made it. This is stupid. I sat in their store waiting for 60+ minutes watching other foods being made. I could’ve gone to brooklyn and back, finished eating, done my dishes in all this time. I took a seat as instructed and apparently the same guy who told me to sit and wait… ended up voiding my order sometime during the 70 minutes of waiting in their store. Why? They thought I left. I was sitting in front of them the whole time. Never moved. Had even checked 30 minutes in and they said almost done. 🤯🤬 when I finally left, the guy who waited 15 minutes to get his bill… his table was never cleaned by the time I left… so it was left dirty for over 45 minutes. 🤦🏻♀️
2025 update: It may be under new ownership now because all the staff are different, seems like a really seasoned restaurant crew who are competent, friendly, and very efficient. The food is also super delicious, on par with brooklyn chinatowns. True Cantonese...
Read moreVery happy to find another Hong Kong style noodles restaurant in Staten Island with roasted meat hanging on racks. First visit with mixed reviews .
Claypot rice, 臘味煲仔飯, has room for improvement. Meat items were added only after rice was cooked, leaving no time to render the fat and flavor from the sausages and pork into the rice. And the roast pork soft tofu casserole, 火腩豆府煲, was meh. The meat was obviously a left over cut, very dry and yet mushy. Wish they can be more selective with their ingredients.
On the bright side, their seafood pan fried noodles were very flavorful and very crispy. Rice congee was creamy and tasty. The lunch specials section offers many selections with good value. The roasted meat was also very good. The steamed rice rolls were made fresh to order and were silky smooth. And the braised hog knuckles were super tender and savory.
Service was friendly and attentive. The settings are comfortable and parking was easy. Will visit again to try other items, and hope to find more...
Read moreEdit: They have improved their service!! Food arrived in a timely manner and the staff seems to be more accustomed to running the place. Definitely will be back :) —— Came here during their grand opening and it was extremely hectic and unorganized…waited an hour for our food and our wonton noodle didn’t even come in a bowl or with utensils. Food was good though. Better than some places in Brooklyn.
Don’t get me wrong, the staff is very friendly but it just seemed like they either didn’t know what they were doing or were very overwhelmed, which is understandable for...
