I dined here last night with my friend to an absolutely wonderful meal. This is one of the top 3 Turkish Restaurants so far that I have eaten at between Manhattan, Brooklyn and Staten Island (out of 12 so far); The other two recommended ones in my opinion are Turco on 43rd and 9th in Manhattan and Beyti Turkish Kebab on Brighten Ave in Brooklyn. There are a few reasons for this......First, the food was so well-balanced and super fresh. The atmosphere was inviting and intimate and the service was stellar with the appropriate attention given to utensil setting, clearing of plates, coursing and automatic water replenishment without having to ask.
Regarding food, although it is hard to find a "bad" Turkish Restaurant in NYC, many of them are over-salted and also heavy because of the amount of fat that they use preparing their Doner. The meat here was so tasty and relatively lean compared to most other places. This is a huge plus. Just the overall seasoning and balance was wonderful. Additionally, their yellow lentil soup was hands down the best that I have ever had; it was so refined and velvety in flavor and texture. The homemade baklava was neither too sweet nor too buttery but just wonderful, filled with pistachios. It was actually the best baklava that I have had since Amir's (Upper West Side) and Cedar's pastry shop(5th Ave. Brooklyn) closed down year's ago.
As far as what we ordered, we had the shepard salad with cheese, mixed doner plate and lentil soup with Baklava. However, I look forward to try the many other options as well as I work through the menu. Thank you very much and I look...
Read moreMy team and I recently ordered chicken gyros from DeDem Mediterranean Turkish Restaurant for a group lunch, and it was an absolute hit! This cozy spot in Dongan Hills, Staten Island, may have limited indoor seating, but it makes up for it with incredible food and a welcoming vibe. Their takeout service is seamless, which was perfect for our team order.
The chicken gyros were nothing short of spectacular—juicy, perfectly seasoned, and bursting with authentic Turkish flavors. Each gyro was generously stuffed with tender, marinated chicken, fresh veggies, and creamy tzatziki, all wrapped in warm, fluffy grilled pita. The balance of spices and textures was spot-on, and everyone in the group raved about how delicious they were. Even those who aren’t usually gyro fans couldn’t stop talking about how flavorful everything was!
We also appreciated the variety on their menu, with options like fresh salads, kebabs, and their famous fresh pitas. The portions were hearty, and the prices felt very reasonable for the quality. The takeout order was ready on time, well-packaged, and still piping hot when we got it back to the office.
The staff at DeDem were friendly and accommodating, ensuring our large order was handled with care. You can tell this is a family-run spot that takes pride in their food and service. If you’re looking for authentic Turkish cuisine with a focus on fresh ingredients and bold flavors, DeDem is a gem. We’re already planning our next team order! Highly recommend the chicken gyros—you won’t be...
Read moreThis must try new Mediterranean restaurant on Staten Island offers delicious grilled authentic Turkish style entrees, deserts and appetizers, excellent attentive service and is sparkling clean . There’s off street parking nearby & you may want to check out the other businesses on that corner or adjacent shopping strip of stores. We shared the huge mixed grill which was absolutely delicious! The meat was tender, succulent and so tasty with just the right amount of seasoning & cooked perfectly. The presentation was excellent. It arrived sizzling hot in a beautiful copper footed chafer style server. We love turkish food and know all the best Mediterranean turkish places in every city we visit, so trust me when I say this place is stellar amazing in the way they handle, cook & present every meal. They deserve 10 stars. Try them out before they get so popular you’ll need a reservation or will have lines outside the door! Yes they’re that good & only 2 months old at this location! Will be back next time we are in Staten Island (as this is our new favorite place on the island). Hopefully can try their delicious deserts if we’re not ready to burst! Balaclava, Kunefe,...
