We were the only ones in the entire place at first, I told the bartender/server we were celebrating my friends birthday and wanted to check the place out- took about 10 mins for our first round of drinks (two drinks). I mentioned to the server I didn’t have a menu with a food portion on the back that took another 5 mins (still the only ones and I saw the menus from our seat so I was confused) and my friend and I just shared one. We ordered empanadas, guacamole, and yucca fries. It took about 30 mins for that to come out and he said there was a new bartender and chef, I asked if they had just opened he said they were open a year….concerning based on the experience we had so far. The food arrived and the empanadas did NOT match the description and tasted DISGUSTING. It looked like something I could have gotten at Costco and was room temperature at best…after waiting 30 mins to get food. My friend used the restroom and it was a mess- they had just opened for the day so how?- had no toilet paper maybe due to the toilet paper roll being broken? And the paper towel dispenser being broken. The music went out 3 different times over the 50 mins we were there, with periods of 1-2 mins of pure silence randomly. The playlist was super random from top 40 to Madonna but no Latin music despite Latin night starting in an hour (also the reason we had chosen this place). Overall, what I had seen from friends who were influencers versus what I saw and experienced made me wonder if I was in the...
Read moreFinally got to go to a speakeasy that I’ve been wanting to go for a while! I came here to celebrate my bestfriends birthday and was a bit disappointed with the service and theme of the night. First was told it was a techno night and sadly if I would have known that from their ig page then I wouldn’t have gone. I follow their ig and they didn’t have a notice about the genre of the night and there’s no number to call which does suck. We waited a while for the food and the fact that thekitchen closes at 9:30pm you would think that our food wouldn’t come late. Our appetizers came late and the drinks too! The chicharron y tigre appetizer was good even though it was mostly fat instead of pork and I wasn’t expecting it to be cold but thankfully still tasted good along with their tostones that were perfectly fried. The Churrasco & chicken skewers were delicious! The ropa vieja trio plantain cups were really good too! My friends really liked their drinks too! I do wish there was more than 1 bathroom because 1 bathroom isn’t enough and sucks when the lines gets ridiculous long! I’m not much of a techno fan but the dj was good and mixed pretty well. I look forward to coming on a night where I can dance...
Read moreInteresting experience. Food was good had the plantains with ceviche, chicken and shrimp for apps. Also the chicken empanadas, very good. For entree we had the steak with Moro , delicious. Our drinks were also pretty good. Unfortunately, after we finished dinner we wanted to dance and left our table to order at the bar. We had an uncomfortable experience with the bartender. A young female that was not at all accommodating to the customers, seemed disgruntled. My husband ordered a couple of drinks, she told him the drinks would take a bit longer, he said no worries and dropped mine off at the table and when he headed back (10ft away, the place is pretty small) she said someone took our drink. She said it happens every night. The nice waiter tended to our needs. But why create this problem? We wanted to just have a great time, you step out nowadays and spend $200-$400 on just drinks . The customer service needs to be top quality nowadays. Too much competition out there. We will skip this next time we are in Williamsburg. The waiter was great and DJ...
