I recently had the opportunity to attend a birthday party at a local bar that allows birthday parties, and I have to say, it was an absolute blast. From the moment we arrived, the staff at the bar were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They reserved a private area for our group and decorated it with balloons and streamers, which really set the mood for the celebration. The drinks at the bar were top-notch, with a wide variety of cocktails, beers, and wines to choose from. The bar also had a great selection of appetizers and snacks, which were a perfect accompaniment to the drinks. But what really made the night special was the atmosphere at the bar. The music was lively and upbeat, and the other patrons were all in good spirits. It was the perfect place to celebrate a birthday, and I know that the birthday person felt truly special and pampered. Overall, I was extremely impressed with my experience at this bar that allows birthday parties. The staff were friendly and attentive, the drinks were excellent, and the atmosphere was perfect for a celebration. I would highly recommend this bar for anyone looking to host a birthday party in a fun and lively setting.

We had just walked 3 miles through the city and wanted to sit down, relax and have a bite to eat and something to drink. There was no hostess at the front, so we walked in and found a nice spot towards the back with a nice and cozy bench. All the tables were empty, so we thought we could just grab any place. We were just about to sit down when a waitress came up and wanted to seat us at a 2 person high top, which at the time looked very uncomfortable to us. We asked if we could sit on the comfortable bench since all the tables were empty and only reluctantly the waitress let us sit there. This made us feel very weird and intrusive. We figured let's just grab an appetizer and get the heck out of this place. Next weird thing was that we had to surrender our credit card to start a tab and couldn't get it back until we checked out. To make the entire experience bad, they charge a no-cash surcharge of 3.5%. They demand a credit card and then they charge you for using it. Ridiculous! The 3.5% came right off the tip, I don't like surprise charges like that. The cheese curds were good but again, expensive.

I visited this bar on Saturday May 13th 2017 at around 10pm and had an absolutely horrendous experience. I believe that within an hour of sitting at the bar that I became the target of a highly orchestrated racial hate attack. After only having a total of two drinks at this bar and 2 drinks prior to arriving, I was told that I was intoxicated. This kind of behavior is illegal under New York City, State and Federal law. I was asked to the leave the bar with no appropriate reason given when asked. When I refused to leave, the black bouncer held my right arm and wrist so tightly that it was twisted badly that I needed x-rays taken and splint placed on the arm for the entire week. I was then subsequently pushed out the bar by the black bouncer and fell on my face. Blood coming from my face, the NYPD did nothing to ensure my safety. I was taken to the hospital and given care for the head wound. I plan to pursue this issue in New York City/State court if I don't receive contact from the bar ownership on this in a timely manner!

It truly pains me to write a negative review on a place that I have supported, recommended to family and friends for three years now. I hosted an event at the Winslow on 2020 and had an amazing time. The customer service was great, food was good, and the staff was very accommodating. When I wanted to host an event again to celebrate my mother's birthday, the Winslow was the first place that came to mind. Unfortunately, I was not met with the same hospitality I did in 2020. My first interactions with the event planner, Emma, was not pleasant at all. Her tone was harsh and attitude was felt through the phone calls. She made me feel like it was an issue to ask questions. Despite this, I still decided to proceed with hosting my event there because of how much I enjoyed my last event there and working with Mark. Fast forward to this past Saturday, everything was great until I came in contact with Katarina. She has NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. I have never came in contact with someone as condescending and rude as her. In my honest opinion, I feel Katarina is not used to dealing with people of color, specifically Black women. I had questions and concerns and was just trying to get to the bottom of it. Immediately, she went into defense mode and was so nasty. I never raised my voice or called her out her name. There was some miscommunication and all I wanted clarity. Instead of her being kind and treating people with respect, I had to end my perfect night feeling disrespected and not taking seriously because of the color of my skin. I must shoutout Maya and Shakira who were AMAZING to work with! They made sure my party was well taken cared of and I truly appreciate them. Again, this is a place I have supported over the years but I DO NOT tolerate disrespect so I can no longer support this business. Message to leadership: please hire people that know how to interact with people of all races, ethnicities,...

Gin. Bar snacks. Soccer. What's not to love?

I've been going to The Winslow for.... god, I don't even know anymore, but certainly long enough to have drank through several gins they no longer carry. Nowhere does gin--and G&T's--like The Winslow and if you're a G&T aficionado, you need to stop what you're doing and make plans to visit The Winslow ASAP.

I love how they do it too: They have a long gin list with tasting notes and botanicals, allowing you to order a standard tonic or a specialty one. The G&T's come out big and strong with garnishes reflecting the tasting notes, from dried orange to rosemary to black peppercorn and more. They're not quite "dangerous" territory, but they're close, so be careful!

The food menu straddles pub grub and standard bar fare, with a surprisingly deep bench of brunch items (pancakes anyone?) and hits like fried chicken, Scotch eggs, buffalo cauliflower, friend pickles... anyone else getting hungry?

The staff is fantastic. Warm, friendly, and they know their biz. We've hosted some half-dozen NYE and birthday parties at The Winslow and we're always impressed by how well they take care of us and how attentive they are. Considering the crowds they get for big sporting events, it's amazing they're able to keep the vibe positive and thrumming along.

Speaking of--what a great place to watch soccer, football, or many other sports I don't follow. Great crowds, lots of TVs, never feels like it's a drunken bro-fest... The Winslow was my go-to for the last World Cup (even with the weird time zones) and I'm sure we'll be watching the next one there as much as we can manage with a small kid.

What else is there to say? If you want a bar with a London-y twist, lots of gin, lots of great food, and cool staff and sports options, The Winslow is an...
