My best friend and I went to Beauty Bar for the 1st time ever earlier this evening to celebrate my new job. He got a mani and we had 2 rounds of drinks. Both times I left cash tip since I have worked in this industry myself for many years and know that cash is king when it comes to tips. We close the tab and we get stopped at the door unexpectedly and the bartender accused us for not leaving tip meanwhile we left cash tip both times that we picked up the drinks. She was there right in front of us when I left her the cash tips on the bar BOTH TIMES and it wasn't crazy busy at all. It was busy but not like anywhere near college bar busy.
After I told her what went down, she accused me of being a liar, huffed and puffed then walked away. My best friend was speechless and stunned. I was dumbfounded that she caused a scene in the 1st place. We both literally had a great time up until that happened. Needless to say, this will be our 1st and last time going there. Terrible demeanor and service that left a really poor taste in our mouths given that we're both established people in our late 30's born and raised in NYC. This situation was very insult to both of us. It almost feels like native New Yorkers are nnot appreciated and welcomed here. It almost feels like native New Yorkers are not appreciated and welcomed here. They had security cameras all over so they can just easily check to see for themselves. Other than that, mani was superb and drinks were as well hence the 2...
Read moreTLDR: aggressive and instigative manager Want to start by saying the bartenders were great and we had a nice experience with them. The manager, however, ruined our time there. We got there at 10 and had two rounds while waiting an hour among other people for the dance floor to open. This whole time, the four of us in my group stood near a fireplace mantle. Toward the end of that hour, a line started forming for the bathroom next to us, but there was plenty of room. No one had any issues getting by. Then the manager comes up to us and says we need to move, claiming we were causing a bottle neck. I pointed out that there was a full walkway behind my friend for him to get through, but he wouldn't have it. My friends and I go to the dance floor while my boyfriend takes our glasses to the bar. Unprompted, the manager aggressively says to him, "What's wrong with your friends?" My boyfriend is unsure how to respond and just says I don't know, sorry. The manager just repeats himself, getting more aggressive, and when my boyfriend tells him he doesn't need to be mean, he kicks my boyfriend out. My boyfriend is the least likely person to ever get kicked out of anything! The bartenders didn't seem surprised by the manager's behavior since they gave the rest of us free shots when we paid our tab. Thankful to them, but we...
Read moreLast night my girlfriends and I tried to enter the Beauty Bar. We showed our IDâs and although we are all middle aged women we thought it was kind of cute. We are all 1966 babies. The bouncer who was sweet had to call over another manager sort of guy who was tall and friendly looking. One of my friends who didnât have her Driverâs License, but had a NYC ID was told by the manager that they usually would not allow a person with that sort of ID into the club since the club could get into trouble, blah, blah, blah... Mind you we are all 51 years old, from NY and wanted to dance somewhere since it is so rare that all of us get together spread out around the country. My friend whoâs ID was in question says fine, you donât need to let me in if itâs trouble. Whereupon this guy says, âWell, I was going to say if you are nice Iâll let you in, but if you have an attitude..â We were basically told to shut up and smile. Heel doggie. Sit still, look pretty. We said no thanks and walked on by. How does this s* still go on. Did I mention we are all 51...
