I have been a customer of this restaurant for years. During lunch, I ordered the same dish on average 3-4 times a week, so I clearly loved the food. However, I am writing this review after having an unpleasant exchange with one of the servers yesterday [November 6, 2023].
Over the years, my problems typically included having my order made incorrectly, being given cold veg. spring rolls (but hot basil fried rice), kitchen being out of commisison and poor communication.
On November 4, 2023, when I ordered my food, my veg. spring rolls were cold, as if they had just been taken out of the refrigerator. I reported this to the restaurant and they said they would take care of me next time I ordered.
When I called my order in on November 6, 2023, I explained my previous problem to the woman. She apologized, and then I gave my order. [They all know it]. She never explained that the price had changed for the lunch special so when I went to pay and she said it was now $14 and some change instead of $11.87, I questioned the price change. In response, she pointed to a flyer on the wall. I was like, I come here so often that you could easily communicate that to me. I don't read the signs around their tiny restaurant and I explained that to her. She then proceeded to say I "always" have a problem as if I am the chef or server fixing my food incorrectly. She also tried to suggest that the reason [only] the spring rolls were cold was because I came so late to pick up my food which wasn’t true. I am a 5 minute bike ride away and my rice was always hot. I had already paid her the money and then she asked if I still wanted the food or not. I asked her to give me my change and then I left with the food.
When I went to eat, I noticed that they are now charging more for less. The lunch special no longer includes the salad, the pitiful new spring rolls are smaller than they use to be and you are possibly getting less rice as well.
The disrespect shown by these people towards a loyal, paying customer and 15 year resident of Williamsburg will never...
Read moreAuthentic & Delicious Thai food, with amiable service, and reasonable prices. I can't wait to try their other dishes! Don't miss the Sexy Duck.
We went strolling for some Thai food on a Sunday night. Even though we were 4 people + stroller, and the restaurant can't usually fit more than 2 small tables, they made an effort and sat us down inside. Please be aware, that you will be sitting very close to the kitchen, so if the smell/smoke bother you, you might prefer to get take-out instead.
We got: Beef Salad - One of our favorite classic Thai salads. The beef was seared in this variation. The portion was big enough for us to share, with plenty of herbs.
Noodle-less Pad Thai - One of our family members preferred the noodle-less version, to avoid the extra carbs. Don't be mistaken, this is the lesser Pad Thai (because, you know, noodles are quite a critical ingredient in a Pad Thai). However, for what it is, it was still good. Stir-fried vegetables and shrimp, in a delicious Pad Thai sauce. Plenty of vegetables!
Sexy Duck - ALWAYS ORDER A SEXY DISH. I mean, wouldn't you want your food to be sexy? Crispy duck, with lots of mango, some pineapple, and other vegetables. My only regret was that I had to share it.
Nom Jin Pu - Off the menu special. Authentic Thai curry dish, with lots of crab and homemade fish balls. It is VERY SPICY. It has plenty of crab meat, including it's internal parts, which might be too bitter for you, if you're not familiar with these flavors.
Mango sticky rice: Delicious, well made, Thai dessert. Served with a whole mango, and not too sweet. A perfect way to end a Thai meal.
I'm looking forward to try the rest...
Read moreJust ordered from Thip Osha for the first time. Every last item was delicious and I have to say better Thai than I have had in years. My very first experience with Thai food was back in the early 80's just before Thai food became a thing here in NYC. The place was called Jai Ya in Elmhurst. My second great Thai experience was about ten years later at SriPraPhai in Woodside Queens. In between those times were numerous avg Thai places that most would consider good, for me I'd say avg and better than nothing. But but the food I just had from Thip Osha is on the level of Jai Ya and Srip.Their Roti served with a curry sauce for dipping was superb. Red Curry with Crispy Pork perfect. The Green Papaya salad was dressed with chili lime dressing and tho I've had it a thousand times in other places here you have an extra herbal flavor in the dressing as well as the freshest crispiest vegetables. The Shrimp in the Pad Thai were cooked while making the dish not pre or overcooked and were tender and juicy. Just had a taste of their Coconut custard for dessert that too was different and so good. The delivery driver was friendly and the order came within 20 minutes of ordering. Thip Osha is my new go to Thai place in...
