I was paying attention to how one of the guy was cooking at Kebabwala. The gentleman ("got curry" shirt) with the longer black sleek hair uses his bare hands to handle the food when cooking, picking it up (with no tongs), wipes a little bit of his nose, puts them in his mouth area, flips his hair, and touches multiple things like other people's receipts and surfaces. No washing ever.
I already told several people to be cautious of the place due to the food handling. Don't be surprised if you don't feel well after.
Update: I nuked my food before I ate it but I still ended up with diarrhea. I went back to check on this place again the next day and the guy finally wore a cap and gloves. Glad there is an improvement but I would be cautious on how they cook the food.
Another reviewer mentioned how the employees at the Jamaican patty spot also initially didn't wear gloves. The hygiene of some of these places are definitely questionable.
The Indian food was moderately spicy and authentic, I'll give you that. A little too authentic of an experience if you ask me. I won't be coming back but hopefully they make improvements for...
Read moreSuper excited to visit the newest Time Out Market location in Union Square. It was very convenient to get to. One thing I love about this location is that it’s not overwhelmingly large like some other time out location very convenient for a nice catch up with a few friends or even solo. As usual they have amazing selections to choose from (always the hardest part of visiting a Time Out Market lol). There are plenty of seating options both indoors and outdoors and there are also take out options.
I and a friend went to have a catch up/ celebratory dinner so we decided to select items from several restaurants offerings (best way to do a time out market visit 😉).
I was mostly also there to try Chef Kwames Patty Palace. I was disappointed to find out the beef patty was gone but the curry chicken didn’t disappoint.
Shoutout to the bar for booking us up with the Lions Pride Cocktails. Soooo good! I am looking forward to returning and trying out more restaurants at...
Read moreTime Out Market E 14th Street opened today, September 26th. Hurrah! There are several restaurants here. I decided to have my first taste at Kebabwala from Chef Chintan Pandya and his Unapologetic Group. I requested to have the chicken kebabs wrapped in a roti with a mango lassi. The chicken is tender and oozing with flavors that make me feel that I am having it in Mumbai. The roti is khasta aka flaky and crispy. I could eat two more rotis. The mango lassi is refreshing and fruity. The biryani sold out this morning so I am hoping to get it tomorrow. Each bite of the kati chicken roll is a taste of India and is truly authentic. I am excited that Time Out Market has opened on East 14th Street and plan to eat at every eatery here.
There are seven eateries in all and have a variety of cuisines. Prices tend to be quite high. There may is ample seating and...
