Title: "A Tranquil Oasis in the Heart of Manhattan: Grace Church"
Review:
"Stumbled upon Grace Church in Manhattan, and what a delightful discovery it was! This historical jewel, nestled at Broadway and East 10th Street, is an architectural marvel and a serene sanctuary in the bustling city. Founded in 1808, with its current French Gothic Revival structure dating back to 1846, the church is a testament to the city's rich history. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by the breathtaking view of intricate stonework, majestic stained glass, and vaulted ceilings that speak volumes of its artistic and cultural significance.
This church is more than a place of worship; it's a vibrant community hub, actively involved in social justice and outreach programs. Grace Church welcomes everyone with open arms, regardless of faith or background, offering a tranquil space for reflection, prayer, and appreciation of its historical and cultural essence.
Moreover, their audio tour (accessible via a simple phone call) is thoughtful, allowing visitors to delve deeper into the church's storied past at their own pace. I experienced unparalleled peace and rest during my visit, making it a genuinely soul-enriching experience.
Whether you're a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or seeking tranquility, Grace Church is a must-visit. Its blend of historical grandeur and welcoming atmosphere makes it a standout landmark in Manhattan."

Read moreOf course the architecture and grounds are magnificent, and the church has a rich history and much to recommend it. But for those who care about internal workings, it’s extremely troublesome. For more than forty years I was a member here and considered it my church home, my sanctuary, my safe place. My love for it and my personal history there was so strong that I chose to overlook its deep problems. Finally, recognizing that the glaring immaturity of its Rector Don Waring could no longer be ignored or tolerated, I moved to Calvary-St. George a few blocks north. It was a huge decision after so many years at Grace, but definitely the right one. Don Waring is, to be blunt, someone who is a minister in title only. The final straw came when, as an ethical vegan, I was given a list of 12 vegan-related words I was not to utter on church grounds or I would be escorted away by security. Staff were told to listen out for any such utterances that suggested a love for animals, even my recommendation of films such as DOMINION, and A PRAYER FOR COMPASSION. That was it for me...left for greener pastures, which fortunately I found a bit further north...my only regret being that I had not done so sooner...I give the church one star for its external beauty and some of its lingering graces, and considering there are no...
Read moreThere is a palpable sense of belonging and love within the walls of Grace and it will forever be my spiritual home. Grace Church holds a special place in my family's heart and SO many in its vibrant community. The ministry is welcoming and the music program is sensational. The Rector, The Rev. Don Waring, and Associate Rector, The Rev. Julia Offinger are spectacular preachers and excellent storytellers, always keeping Christ at the center. The Rev. Thomas Szczerba is wonderful with children's ministries, helping our youngest to know God's love and finding creative ways to share it! Dr. Patrick Allen, Organist and Choirmaster is truly a gift to Grace. The children's choirs are exceptional and the adult choir is unparalleled under his leadership. His "Bach at noon" brings joy to so many in the neighborhood. Grace Church is a stunning building - James Renwick's first masterpiece before he went on to build St. Patrick's Cathedral uptown, and Vassar College's Library among others. The Grace Church community is precious and I thank God for this beautiful place that knows the love of Christ and shares it so bountifully. Thank you, beloved Grace Church for being a beacon of hope in...
