To Whom It May Concern, To the owner (little short lady) From one business owner to the next
I’ve been visiting New York for over 12 years, and since May 28th of this year, I’ve spent a significant amount of time—and money—at this particular establishment. The staff has always been amazing, and I’ve truly enjoyed the atmosphere. However, I had an unfortunate experience that I feel needs to be addressed.
While sitting at the bar during a lively and loud moment in the restaurant, I received a FaceTime call from my daughter. She was simply showing me some products I’d ordered for her that had just arrived. Everyone around me, including the man sitting next to me, was also on their phones—talking loudly—yet no one else was approached. Suddenly, a woman came up to me and told me I couldn’t be on FaceTime at the bar. I respectfully asked, “Who are you?” She responded, “I’m the owner.”
There was no posted signage anywhere stating that FaceTime was prohibited. I wasn’t being disruptive or disrespectful. My call was brief and personal. What stood out most is that this “rule” was enforced only on me, the only African American woman sitting at the bar. Meanwhile, other patrons were openly being loud and using their phones without any issue.
It didn’t feel like a concern about policy—it felt personal. As a fellow business owner, I know how important it is to address any concerns with professionalism and respect. That was not shown to me in this instance. The owner passed right by another customer who was laughing and speaking loudly in Italian and said nothing. Yet, she singled me out. That speaks volumes.
I’ve spent over $2,000 here during this visit alone. I’ve supported this business consistently, and I deserve the same respect and courtesy as every other guest. If there are policies in place, they should be clearly posted and applied equally to all—not enforced selectively.
I’m considering reporting this experience to the Better Business Bureau because I believe no guest should be made to feel singled out or disrespected—especially in a place where they’ve shown nothing but loyalty.
Respect is a standard that should never be compromised, especially in hospitality.
Sincerely, A...
Read moreI have dined at Uncle Peter's fine Italian cuisine 3 times in the past. The Italian cuisine is absolutely delicious and tasty, however, expensive and serving portions of meals prepared is small. The top shelf bar menu is very much recommended even though it is also expensive. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is intimate and lush. The service from the waitress, Patricia, is very attentive and prompt. The main reason why I rated Uncle Peter's 3 stars is because the last time I ate there with my best friend, the male server overcharged my debit card $110.13 when I clearly stated to withdraw $95.00 from my debit card. At first, the male server did charge my debit card $95.00 and gave me a receipt of $95.00 that was withdrawn from my debit card as confirmation of my part of the tab of the bill while my best friend paid cash on her end. The day after I went to Uncle Peter's restaurant with my best friend, I noticed on my bank account that the amount that was withdrawn from my debit card went from $95.00 to $110.13. NOW, THAT OVERCHARGE TO MY DEBIT CARD OF $110.13 INSTEAD OF WHAT WAS ORIGINALLY STATED $95.00 WAS THE PART I DID NOT FU* LIKE AT ALL. Something very sneaky and extremely friendly was going on that day I went to Uncle Peter's with my best friend. The amount of the bill that my best friend and I paid for was the total bill of what we ate while we were there at Uncle Peter's restaurant with a $15.00 tip included in the total amount for the waitress, Patricia. I will not be returning to Uncle Peter's restaurant at all because of this very sneaky overcharge of $110.13 without any explanation or forementioned of any extra, additional fees I did not know about at the time....
Read moreI really feel the need to write this review for anyone new considering to come here.. I been here twice in my life once in 2007 for a new years party and again recently. The decor and plating is beautiful. The staff is smiling and kind. The food, quantity and overall experience is not especially the bill. When a bill is over 100$ i want it to be worth it so therefore i wont be returning. For the owner to create this menu to the public is even insulting to me. It's like you don't care about the dollar bill coming out our pocket just your restaurant. To charge 20$ for four small Appetizer meatballs that taste frozen and the size of a grape is ridiculous. The presentation of the bruscetta appetizer was sloppy and not impressed either to charge that amount of money. The appetizers took over 30 minutes to serve as well. The penne alla vodka, so dissapointed the pasta didn't taste homemade it tasted straight from a box boiled. To charge $18 for a pasta entree and then $8 to add chicken or shrimp is highly offensive especially when it tasted like i could boil the box of pasta at home. The chicken in the pasta tasted premade and frozen as well nothing tasted freshly made or authentic only the bread, butter and the water served. Basically your paying for the fancy seating, table service and name of the restaurant.. To the owner be fair, do more and certainly give more to the customer if your asking for these obsene amounts of money for food items....
