I was visiting New York and my friends wanted to go to White Castle and check out the food. White Castle is a fast food place that sells sandwich sliders. They sell a variety of burger, fish, and chicken sliders. They also sell chicken rings, smoothies and items that other regular fast food places sell. They are only located in a few areas in the country and there are several in the New York/New Jersey area. We went to the one in Harlem. I asked one of my friends why he liked White Castle and he said because the burgers are small, the bread is soft, and they melt in your mouth. So, I tried one of the cheeseburger sliders and a chicken ring (which is basically a chicken nugget shaped like an onion ring).
The cheeseburger slider to me tasted just like a McDonalds cheeseburger, just smaller. Although the bread was softer and the meat was really tender. I wasn't overly impressed. It still tasted like a McDonald's cheeseburger. The chicken ring was good but was still basically a chicken nugget shaped like an onion ring. The french fries were good. The milk shake was nice and thick that u need to eat it with a spoon. I liked the milk shake. I also tried one of the smoothies. I ordered the tropical smoothie and it was delicious. It even had bits of fruit in it. I liked the smoothie too.
The prices were average so I wasn't disappointed over that. The eating area was small but the staff constantly cleaned it and dumped the trash. They kept the restrooms locked so that it could only be used by the customers but when I went to use it, it still needed to be cleaned. Although there was a sign on the wall saying the bathrooms were cleaned every hour, it didn't look, smell, or seem that way.
All in all, the idea of mini burger fast food was original, but I think the taste of the food is still on the same level as a McDonalds but that is only my opinion. I would go back again if I were in the area close to one. It just wasn't that awesome for me to crave it enough to make a special trip there if I...
Read moreHonestly I feel like I was here at the worst time. It felt super tense and everytime more customers came in it felt more tense. The workers here seemed super stressed out but I want to acknowledge that they did a great job of dealing with so many people in the restaurant. There were a few mistakes for some orders (recognized and fixed quickly by staff) while others were spot on that even the customer forgot "Oh yeah I ordered that" I would really want whoever the owner is to know that your team deserves some recognition for working hard and dealing with such an influx of constant customers and huge orders. Not to mention however many people were ordering delivery.
Food wise: decent. Sliders. Can't really say more or less about it than a good snack if you order a bit or a full on eating contest for one person ordering 2 family meals or something. Not a fan of the plain stuff and the 1927 or whatever sliders still weren't something I cared about. Fries were solid. I only ate here to fulfill the experience of seeing the Harold and Kumar movie where they went to white Castle...
Read moreThe lowest I could go is one star. However I’m not in a habit of giving people a bad review for I remember reading if you have nothing good to say say nothing at all. Anyhow my beloved and I decided to order from GrubHub to White Castle. Anyhow White Castle came early and delivered the wrong order. This is where it gets fascinating. We ordered over $60 worth of food and got somebody name Brandon‘s food who ordered $16 worth. The interesting thing is when we called Grubhub they informed us they can bring back the right order in about an hour and a half. However if I order a brand new order it will be between 30 and 45 minutes. Obviously ruining our evening was not good enough but they had to insult us with the Grubhub lady saying “my complete apologizes and I can definitely understand how you feel.” I don’t believe the lady understand how I feel because I cannot eat her apologies. Well I just finished eating Brandon’s food. So the only thing I can say to anyone who comes after me. You are all forewarned all who venture to...
