I placed an order on the phone with this place for pickup on 07/11/2017. The order went smooth. When I went to pick up the order, the staff seemed nice however parking was a real pain. The inside of the restaurant was clean. However, upon getting in my car, opening the wrapper, and taking a bite, I noticed something wasn't right. I put my finger in the cheese whiz to see if that was the issue. Yep, sure enough it was NOT cheese whiz. What they are using is Cheese Sauce, which is a very cheap imitation of cheese whiz you put on pretzels and fries in a pizza shop or a movie theater. Puzzled I checked the website again and sure enough it says cheese whiz. I called and asked to speak to a manager. I spoke to a woman who had an accent from out of the country. I could not put my finger on where but she also spoke good english. When I confronted her about not using cheese whiz, she assured me that was the product they were using. When I told her I was going to call the Kraft Heinz legal department over the issue because they are representing a trademarked product they are not using, she completely changed her tune. She was very angry and told me if I did not like the cheese steak to bring it back. She also told me that cheese whiz is on the sandwich but its not Kraft's cheese whiz. Well, I told her its a trademarked name and either she is using it or she isn't and by the taste, they OBVIOUSLY are not using cheese whiz. I also told her that I am from Philadelphia and took it majorly offensive that I made my purchase today because I thought I was going to have cheese whiz on my cheese steak and infact its not. She then hung up on me. I then called Kraft Heinz's legal department in Chicago and turned them in and they were VERY INTERESTED in my story. I also told them the website states they use cheese whiz. So don't be surprised if they change the name on the menu after they receive a nasty letter from Kraft Heinz. I am not one to stir the pot but how dare they advertise they use it when they don't. I am NEVER going back here again. I hope Kraft Heinz sues the pants off of them and they go out of business. Who puts cheese sauce on a cheese steak? And if you did, who can't tell the difference between that and cheese whiz? ...
Read moreI’ve been here a few different times because friends have recommended the food but every time I ordered over the phone and then went in to pick up my food I got an older man that seemed to hate his job and honestly made me dread having to order and pickup my food. Not sure of his name or his relation to the company but he is the main reason that I’ll never be going back. He made it seem like it was a pain anytime you ordered anything and when you’re either on the phone or picking up your food with him it seemed he just wanted you to go away. Well it worked. The food isn’t all that great anyways. They claim to have the best cheesesteaks but being from Philly they didn’t even look appetizing to me, my friends have said they’re not the greatest. I figured I shouldn’t even waste my money on one and get one from a real cheesesteak place. I’ve had their strombolis, the meatball and the spanakopita (spinach, garlic, olive oil, and greek feta cheese). The meatball one wasn’t half bad, the spanakopita however was awful. One side of the stromboli was just all cheese and bread then the other side was the spinach, garlic, and everything else. It would’ve tasted a lot better if you didn’t get a giant bite of olive oil and garlic in one bite and then just plain cheese in the next. I also had the regular hoagie which is basically an italian because my friend recommended it and it honestly wasn’t good either. I’d recommend a lot of other places ahead of here like Malin’s Deli on S. College Ave. It’s only a 3-5 minute drive south of Claymont but the food is much better and the service is lightyears ahead of here. I’m never going back and I’ve been telling my friends and businesses to not go here...
Read moreNEVER HAVE I EVER….had a “Grilled Cheese” that wasn’t “grilled”. My folks were in town and wanted cheesesteaks, they didn’t want to drive to Philly so they settled on Claymont steak shop, I personally would have gone somewhere else because I didn’t want a cheesesteak from there due to there being bones in two cheesesteaks I ordered from the other location last year, but since I stay in the area and can drive to my favorite spot in Philly whenever I feel like it, I figured I could find something else on the menu. I am a very finicky eater, I don’t eat large portions and don’t like to waste food…I usually check the kids & 55+ Items first lol…they had neither option…so I went with a classic, something you could never go wrong with…oh but it did…I was probably too “lifted” at the time to realize that this classic item was listed under the “warm” section on the menu but was promptly informed when I tried to figure out wth was taking a grilled cheese so long O _ O that they make them in the oven! What in the total mind you know what because correct me if I am wrong…but two pieces of bread in the oven is cheese bread not a grilled cheese…but I’m like whatever, as long as it’s good…well nope…the bread was drier than the Sahara Desert, so maybe someone forgot to butter my bread or is this how it’s served? I honestly don’t even really care because $4.49 is an irrational amount to charge for two pieces of bread and cheese that someone throws in the oven for 15 minutes not to mention these little mushroom crumbs that I got for $6.99 lol. I took that one bite of the sandwich and trashed it, such a waste of time…I just don’t care to visit this...
