l’ve been coming to Elm BBQ since 2003 and I’m from Rahway. The dine-in service has declined tremendously. Last week, a pregnant woman who handles the phone and I think is the manager now treated us with such disrespect that my husband couldn’t swallow the food after that. The waitresses cannot make any decisions in regards of cold or burned food. They ask everything to this pregnant woman. They are not trained but at least they talk to us and have manners. We ordered beef ribs. It came burned and we told the waitress we had ordered medium well.. The waitress talked to the pregnant woman and then told us she would exchange it. But she only took the beef ribs and left the rest in the platter. By the time, she came with the meat, the food was cold so we told her. She went back to ask. This pregnant woman came to our table with a angry face, grab the cold rice and french fries without a word took it and later came back with a small platter and dumped it on the table. Initially,we had served some rice to eat but the meat was not good so we left the rest untouched in the platter. I supposed she saw that we had ate some of the rice, she brought a small platter with rice and potatoes. We were not begging for food. We are paying customers. Besides, ElM owe us a large size of rice they forgot to include in the huge order we made a month ago. It is not the size is the way she treated us. Not a word mentioned. Not looking at us. There was never a sorry or an apology. We waited for a long time for the food and then had to wait again for the meat. They probably don’t care of our business since the place is always packed but it they continue like this, it will come to an end. They won’t see us for a very long time or...
Read moreMy fiance and I Had dinner just now in this restaurant and sad to say the waiter was very rude, we asked for a cup with ice for our drinks which she never offered in the first place and she gave us one cup. She continued to leave the table then I asked her for my cup and she seemed annoyed that I asked. When we got our food the chicken was warm barely hot. The waitress didn't bother to come back to the table to ask if everything was OK or if we wanted anything else. They shouldn't have people like this working in a restaurant that has so many states. 🙄 I'm giving it one star because the rice was ok . Will never come back to this...
Read moreThis is the mother of all BBQ places in Newark. There are always seats available since it's blocks away from Ferry St. It certainly isn't the best meal I've ever had, but the quantity for the price can't be beat. Sometimes they throw too much salt on the chicken, but it is what it is. Please get the full chicken with rice and fries. Share it with a friend or take it home for lunch the next day. Don't forget...here's the secret...that the yellow container isn't mustard. It's some sort of hot sauce made in heaven. Throw that into the rice and...
