If the girl is serving you than this place is a solid 4-5 stars and it is fully worth the money. Though if you get up to the counter and its one of the guys standing there with a bowl ready to serve you.. RUN.. get in your car and head ten minutes down the road to Maui Poke where you always get fed and get your moneys worth. The guys at this place will typically give you about a $6 dry bowl of rice and edamame and charge you $15. The bowl i got there today was maybe the worst meal i ever had and this was undoubtedly the last time. Seriously, just watch and pay attention as they spoon out a full ladle of fish and then shake it or bang it against the side until there are only two or three pieces of fish with which theyll top your bowl with. I have never seen anything like it. No more!!
UPDATE - To the owner, I appreciate the time taken to respond and the offer to make it right but it's not even worth it to me. More often than not the bowls were smaller than one would expect for $15 and completely lacking fish.. and if theyre gonna give me 85% rice than at least cover and smother it in sauce so i dont have to fight to get it down. I found a place thats consistent with fresher ingredients and way bigger portions for the same if not a little cheaper. I will go there. The girl though as i said, is a star and the only one there who puts together a good bowl. Those guys and that spoon shake are something else. Having worked in food service for many years in the past, the one thing you dont do is give the appearance that the customer is getting less than their moneys worth.. get a smaller spoon and overfilling it will go over far far better than filling a spoon and then shaking it until its just about empty and then serving it. Seriously you should fire everyone except the girl and have her train every new hire and you will be off to a much...
Read moreUgh. This place has awful, awful poke bowls. Poke bowls are one of my favorite things to eat and i'm so sad that this place butchers their name like this.
The canned pineapple they use is an automatic red flag. Their cucumbers are sliced so weirdly that it's hard to eat them out of the bowl. (For texture purposes, they should be cut into squares) Avocado is usually browning too. I usually have to drown my bowls in sauce to make them taste palatable. To be fair however, I don't think Pobu is fantastic either, Maui Poke is a smidgen better than both.
I don't mind the employees, they're very kind and don't have control over the quality of the food, I also never have issues with takeout.
However, the bowls are not tasty in the slightest. Every-time I go here I expect them to be better, because "maybe i'll give them another chance" but I get the same result each time.
The one thing that needs to be done is they need to start using fresh pineapple, it's a simple suggestion and would make the bowls taste...
Read moreEmbarrassed that I've given so much of my money to an incredibly rude owner. Asked to speak with her because of a language barrier and price issue between the associate and I, and also I understanding that it was not his fault. I came in once a week, sometimes twice a week and would get the same thing for a price that I was told at another location and at that location. Now I will never be going back. She was incredibly rude and even after the conversation, her explaination made no sense, still trying to over-charge me (from what I have been paying for over 8 months). I normally do not care about prices, but the disrespect I recieved made me just want to leave. I have been in the restaurant industry for 5 years and have NEVER seen or done what she did to me. If you eat here, try not to ask "why" because she will cause a scene. Terrible customer service, I truly feel bad for anyone...
