Pulaski BBQ — Restaurant in Newark

WAS great/ not anymore!1 hour and a half before closing no more food and they are cleaning the whole place while people are still eating!🤔🤔 I was there tonight at 830 PM. I called in at 815ish to make sure they had tables available. The owner tells me to go before 915 because they wont have any more food and close at 10. Got there luckily found parking quickly in by 830 seated by 835. After being seated I asked for the menu, after choosing a picadinho and beef ribs,which need to be cooked at the moment. I get told they only have bbq. I had to get up to go get drinking glasses at another table because there were none at our table and the server was nowhere to be seen!! While we were still eating, some other customers came in to eat at 9 and were turned away because they only had some takeout. This place is 40 minutes from my house and used to be worth the drive however its been declining and I will no longer waste my time or money...

I’ve been eating lunch here for about 15 years and I keep coming back for a few reasons: The food is exceptional; the chicken and ribs are the best in Newark by far, probably the best in the state. The yellow rice is a personal favorite of mine and the portions are always generous. The staff are all very friendly, even when it’s busy. I’m always greeted with a smile and taken care of promptly. Cleanliness! I’ve been to plenty of places in the area and not all of them are concerned about cleanliness and hygiene. Pulaski is always sparkling clean and the staff is constantly cleaning every inch of the place. Prices are very fair and well worth it. I always get more food than I can eat in one sitting for between 10-15 dollars. They recently completed a total renovation of the restaurant and it’s beautiful! They’ve really stepped up their game! If I could've gave this place a zero stars I would! Let me start of by saying that I am not 1 person to be posting anything over the web but this place definitely deserve for me to post this bad review because of the treatment I've been receiving from the owner itself and the employees there they have no good customer service whats so ever, the owner at 1 time for lunch I work close by there so I decided to order food from there so when arrived to get the food my co worker and I decided that since the place was empty we can maybe sit and eat there so we asked the owner and he declined we said ok maybe its because its a pandemic going on so we left it at that but then I ordered food again and the owner treated me like if I owed him something, but this is the case their food had a roach in it i will never in my life...
