I have been looking for a good ramen place for some time around Newark and am glad to find Ramen Gami! Ramen Gami is a Japanese restaurant in the Rutgers neighborhood, serving good food with generous portion sizes at decent prices. The place is pretty cozy with about 7-8 tables, but can get crowded at lunch hours - also may involve some waits. Recently visited them with a group of friends for lunch. The menu had a few vegetarian/vegan friendly options. The ramen is make your own style, you get to choose between three types of broth, a bunch of toppings and also the type of noodles. I had tried the veg Miso Ramen with extra toppings of Bean Curd and Mushrooms. It was very flavorful and had great umami flavor, if you like it a bit spicy you can add some hot chili sauce to the broth. For desert, I tried the Mochi ice cream - green tea and chocolate flavored. Mochi was great, an absolute must try and the $2.25 price tag is a steal deal. A few of my friends also tried the Curry Katsu box and had liked it a lot. Its a lunch special they have added and is not on the menu. In fact my friend John asked me to add that "Chicken was delicious" in the Curry Katsu. Recommendations: Veg Miso Ramen with choice of additional toppings Mochi Ice cream Ramune Soda Overall its a must try place for some good ramen in Newark. But be mindful of the waits during lunch hours and can get pretty crowded in there.

The food is good, but the prices are crazy high for Ramen, especially in Newark and in a place primarily patronized by students. You can find places cheaper in midtown Manhattan. They nickel and dime you for every ingredient instead of offering complete packages like most ramen places (for significantly less). Just charging 9.50 JUST for noodles is hilariously high. Most ramen places in NJ charge 12-14 for a complete package ramen bowl, for them it’s 13.00 solely for noodles and one protein like pork, before adding any of the normal ramen essentials. The funny part with Ramen Gami is that before their fire and subsequent closing, the prices were only slightly lower, so due to inflation since then (beginning of 2020) their prices have now become mildly more reasonable, though they’re still very high for ramen in the NY/NJ area.

Checked this place out on a whim, and glad I found a cool little ramen spot near newark broad street station! I had the shio ramen which was okay, and with a couple normal things added it came out a little pricey. The soup was passable for the price but i’ll still be coming back to try the different flavors they have! Also found it weird they were playing kpop and other asain songs but I dont think i heard a single one in japanese lol. Place is pretty cute too! Has potential to be my favorite looking ramen place if they maybe soent another afternoon making the space even more decorated to make it feel really cozy and rough, my ideal ramen joint. Staff was super nice, professional and friendly. Can really tell the guy working register cared about giving customers a good experience.

Ramen Gami was always my go to spot during graduate school. I love that they have some food items not offered in other ramen places. This place had burned down for a while so I finally got the opportunity to taste their food, after more than a year. I dined in, which is self-seating, and ordered a spicy tuna roll and Shoyu Tokyo style ramen. The spicy tuna was actually spicy and had a little crunch to it, which I loved! The chicken in the ramen didn’t soak up too much of the flavor from the broth so it was ok to eat. Our server was really nice, and it was calm inside while we were eating . I’d go back again.

Ramen Gami is without any doubt one of the best sushi options in the newark downtown area. Near NJIT, its not your college experience. The sushi is simply put, AMAZING. I will 100% recommend you ordering the Kamakazi roll. Actually let me re frase that, say this "Cristo recommend me to order a Kamakazi roll" you won't regret it. Update even when the Kamakazi is still an amazing roll now you should order the "Cristo Roll" thats right I love this place so much that I got my own name on a sushi roll and OMW shirmp tempura with coconut and a FRESH mango sauce (yes fresh) it is delicious. I am beyond happiness

I came across Ramen Gami while visiting college. Started my dining experience with Spicy Tuna Roll with nice crunch and little kick, followed by Tonkotsu Ramen with few slices of pork and marinated egg and a little of hot oil on the side and Moshi white peach sparkling YUZU to drink. Service was great, my order came in little to no time. Everything was fresh and delicious. I highly recommend to visit this nice, cozy place a little gem at the corner of NJIT & Rutgers and give a try and I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed. My Ramen Add-ons jumped food price quickly. But hey, it was worth it.
