I just had lunch with 3 of my former co-workers here today. This place was not our original plan but it was the only place opened nearby. We asked for the menu upon arriving since none of us has ever been there. It took me awhile to decide what I wanted. I tried to converse with the worker to help me decide, but he did not acknowledge me. I eventually decided on the Fat Filipino Sandwich ($7.99) and one Arizona drink (which is the main drinks they have here). My total was $9.57 after taxes. I paid with my debit card therefore this is not a "cash only" place. My co-worker asked for a takeaway box for half of her sandwich since it came in a paper bag. The staff gave her a hard time about it, and in all honesty he was rude about it. He asked her why she wanted the styrofoam container. When another co-worker asked for a container as we were leaving, he asked her why she didn't want to use the paper bag. (FYI she didn't want her sandwich rolling around while driving). I can go on and on about how unwanted we felt but I'll stop here.
The food itself was good, not great but good. One of my co-workers got a chicken salad that looked really good and she said it was delicious. I enjoyed my Fat Filipino sandwich. However I thought there was too much fries and not enough meat. It's supposed to have cheesesteak, gyro, chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, and fries. I didn't see or taste the gyro and the chicken was like chicken nuggets. For the most part I felt like I was eating French fries sandwich. Carbs on top of carbs. Not worth it especially I know I have to work extra hard at the gym tomorrow to make up for the extreme calories consumption. The place itself is simple. We didn't order dessert but my co-workers and I noticed how big the portion was for the cakes. Definitely worth of the price. There were plenty of seating in the back but the back was closed when we were there. There was six seating in the front area. By the way, the wonderful convenient outlets they have right next to the seats did not work. That was disappointing.
Overall 2 stars for the reasonable prices good food. Negatve 3 stars for the rude service. Bad service makes it hard to fully...
Β Β Β Read moreThis guy called up and yelled obscenities and curses into my mother's answering machine which we all heard out loud. My mother is a 70 year old lady. I wish I could give this place a half star. It was disgusting, vile and completely uncalled for. The reason this happened was because we called up for a delivery, when he said no delivery pick up only, we canceled the order. Apparently this fool made the order anyway and when we didn't show up to pick it up...He called up and left a disgusting recording on my mother's home phone answering machine that we all heard out loud in real time. We were and still are beyond outraged at this place and these people.
Edit: My previous review before I edited it was one line in all caps that stated that he called up and cursed at my mother. Needless to say that because I was furious and in my haste I didn't want to get into nor did I have the patience to write a detailed review explaining exactly what happened. This is what happened. It ruined dinner and the rest of the evening for all of us. I really don't know how this place is still...
Β Β Β Read moreI stopped by RU Hungry recently, and Iβm so glad I did! The food is absolutely delicious β fresh, flavorful, and made to order. I had one of their signature fat sandwiches, and it was packed with everything you could want in a comfort meal: crispy fries, juicy chicken, and just the right amount of sauce. You can really tell they take pride in what they serve.
The staff was friendly and efficient, even with a steady stream of customers. The vibe is laid-back and welcoming β perfect for a quick bite or a late-night craving.
If youβre in Newark and looking for something filling and satisfying, RU Hungry is the spot. Iβll definitely be...
