We just dodged this scam-likely situation at this Saison, located in Terminal C across Coach store. This waiter, Wixxxm forced his collague (a young female) to take us to his table area, while 4 of a Latino family still sat in the 2nd group of tables on the right side of entering, but we had wanted to sit somewhere far away from the crowded entrance and the young female had guaranteed us we would be led to where we wanted but this guy, Wixxxxm, overrode her and us then forced us to sit at his table. Very rude. (Later I start to think this table location could be part of his trick) While we were putting in drinks and meals in our cart, using the touch screen, he changed his attitude as if he saw us for the first time, forgetting being rude, seconds ago, and started to add my own meals in another screen as a duplicate. (We did not ask him for his help! He was forcing it) Then, I was still punching my order on my screen then he started to touch my screen (intrusive) then skipped (flashing fast) the order steps I should see and approve on my own, then told me I should swipe my card. I briefly saw the price much higher than I should pay. I did not see the total price. But he repeatedly told me to swipe the card 2-3 times more. (It felt like a voice phishing!) Infelt his intrusive order did not correctly reflected our meals and drinks and I instantly stopped and tried to do it again on my own. Then he started to punch the list on the next screen next to mine, ignoring me once again, and, I said I was ready to swipe myncard,, when I saw my own correct price $118. Then he said "my touch screen had a system error." (No, the supervisor later said that it shouldn't be the error state when it showed "swipe the card") The screen showed, "swipe the card at $118 with 18% default Service tip added. But Wixxxxm's price I saw briefly before mybown check out price at $118 was almost $137 or higher. That is when I realized something was wrong with him. Then, he moved to opposite side and on to my partner and he kept trying to coerce him again and by him punching the menu on a 3rd touch screen without our consent while I said I would do it on my own. Then, he ignored me and focused on my partner morenforcibly I started to kick the table to alert my partner not to fall for his trick. But, this waiter would not stop! Next I jumped out and said we would not stay here any more firmly. Instantly, without a word, Wixxxxm ran into the indoor table area as if he did not encounter us at all. That was all wrong and suspicious. We called for the floor supervisor, who heard us and shared HR staff telephone number and I later reported all his ill trick Wixxxm tried to do to us, to the manager JP who ket us outside the restaurant. Both the floor supervisor and the manager acknowledged our experience and apologized sincerely. We were totally offended and physically shaken that this could happen to anyone in an established dining place like Saison. Still disgusted hours later, and, everyone should beware of him and his trick.

⸻ Saison – Abuse, Antisemitism, and a Cash Scam at a New York Airport We had a humiliating and infuriating experience at Saison, located inside a New York airport. Tired and hungry before our flight, we ordered a simple meal: • Chicken Paillard Salad – $26.99 • Avocado Toast – $22.99 • Coke and Diet Coke – approx. $11.00 The total, according to the printed menu, should’ve been around $66 with tax. Even with a generous tip, there’s no way it should exceed $80. But the waiter: • First claimed the total was $65 • Then insisted on cash only, refusing card payment — with no signage or explanation • Took our $100 bill, disappeared, and returned saying the new total was suddenly $84 • Refused to provide any breakdown or receipt when we asked why the amount changed • Became rude and hostile The most disturbing part? His entire demeanor changed the moment he realized we were Jewish. What started as cold service quickly turned into open aggression and discrimination. This wasn’t just a billing issue — it was a blatant case of antisemitic behavior wrapped in a cash scam. We refused to pay and walked out without eating. This is how discrimination looks in a modern airport restaurant. To anyone passing through a New York airport: avoid Saison. If you’re Jewish — especially. If you value honesty and dignity — stay far away.

Right out of the gate (get it?) It's definitely overpriced, but expected given it's an airport. For some reason EWR (at least at terminal C) has ipads on all of its dine-in places, likely a relic from the time smartphones we're not as popular. They are in the middle of your table so that's all you'll see while you're there, showing you the QR code to order. Not very useful now and making a huge impact on the Atmosphere Saison is trying to pursue. On food, it was good. I was surprised when I received the burger I requested, as I expected a small beef patty on a small bun. This was a 3/4 to 1 inch thick beef cooked just as I requested with cheese draping on the decent sized bun. It was a looker and the taste followed the looks. Th fries were ok. I definitely recommend the burger. At the end I was well satisfied. My wife had the chicken club sandwich which was very tasty as well, but do mind they use sliced bread. Service was ok. There is plenty of staff and they go around frequently. You won't miss them, just look for the stripped shirts.

I usually don’t write reviews when a restaurant is outstanding, good or even not great. Decided to since we frequent Saison at Newark Airport. Each time, including the recent one, the staff was explicitly disinterested in their work, non-responsive when thanked or acknowledged and lethargic (at best). They could have been perceived as rude except that I don’t take these things personally and feel badly about their presentation that, surely, makes their work day more excruciating than anything else. This gives us pause for spending what it takes to eat here. From apps to mains, prices are high and comparable to what we pay at Manhattan and SF restaurants with far better food and outstanding service. I realize that food service work is often thankless as a public-facing job and is often only allowing people to merely get by on tip-based income (that often gets taxed!). I know this from years spent in food service as server and bartender. That said, I go out of my way to be engaging and accommodating of servers, never asking for unreasonable service or demanding anything. I make it a point to tip very well most of the time. Sadly, the Newark Saison staff did not show any interest or motivation to meet my interactions. I’m regretful to have left an 18% tip, that was digitally thrust at me as a customer before the service was complete. I’d say I will think twice next time at Saison, but will not have a next time. My business will go elsewhere. I like to spread the word about airport experiences with family & friends and plan to do so about Saison when Newark Airport is part of the conversation. In these times when kindness, inclusivity of each other and earnest intention go a long way to help ease communities and interactions between us, I will hope that the Saison team will find their way to a better developed staff. Wishing good luck to the Saison team from the serving staff and line cooks to the management...

My wife & I decided to try Saison after it was recommended to us by an OTG Mgr. It was approximately around 5:30 pm when we entered and after asking a server do we seat ourselves he grunted yeah! A very professional attitude! As we continued to walk further in the place a mgr showed us to the last table in the back. I had sneakers on and felt the floor to be very slippery with a greasy feel to it. My wife ordered a burger with fries & a ginger ale. I ordered a dozen little neck clams a shrimp cocktail and salmon with a white bean purée. My salmon come to the table first and about 10 to 12 minutes before my wife’s meal arrived. By the time she got her burger I was done with the salmon! Clams and shrimp cocktail no where to be seen or had! A bus person arrived and asked how was everything and did we want anything else which I replied yes my clams and shrimp cocktail. Now our server shows up and tells me she would get it right away (about 12 minutes later! We the shrimp cocktail arrives with (you guessed it) NO Cocktail Sauce! The dozen clams were ONLY 2 sitting on a bed of ice again No Cocktail Sauce! I said where are the other 10 clams - in about 10 minutes she deliver a dozen to me Again No Cocktail Sauce! Said she would bring it but I never did I paid $137.00 for so so food and the WORST SERVICE in the world! NO TIP from me! I pay for food But Tip on Service. We travel 3 times a year out of Newark Airport. I can guarantee you I’ll never go back to Saison. I’d rather have a slice of pizza and a beer. A lot cheaper and you know what your getting and expecting. I’ll be sure to tell everyone I know about...
