Suave Sabor — Restaurant in Newark

If I could give a lower rating, I would. Such an unsanitary place. I ordered a chicken crepe for my brother and I to eat for lunch today. As my brother was eating, he noticed something strange inside the piece he was eating and pulled it out. Being that he is rather very young and doesn't have an eye out for things, he didn't realize he pulled out an insect from the crepe and thought he pulled out a herb and proceeded to put it to the side and continue eating. I was too busy on my phone to have noticed what he did, and of course, he didnt say anything to me about it. It was only after we finished the crepe and I was about to throw away the styrofoam container that I noticed this oddly shaped thing on the corner of the container covered in food. After inspecting it, I believe it is a small roach. I've had PLENTY of friends tell me stories about how they have seen roaches or any other insect crawl here and there at this resturant. This is absolutely DISGUSTING and after looking through most reviews, it seems as though I am NOT the only one who has had a "roach problem" with this resturant. When I called back to complain, they offered to send another crepe but they totally missed the point that there was a possible disease carrying insect within my food and that I didnt want any food of theirs. Positives: The place was clean and servers were friendly. Negatives: we sat ourselves, had to ask for menus, had to go back to the counter to order. The selection available was poor and this was at 4pm in the afternoon. This place claims to be open 24 hours, but there wasn’t much to choose. The pastéis are extremely over priced! The customer service sucked! I asked for a guaraná. They charged me for it. The server apologetically came to my table and told me that they were out of guaraná, which to me is ludicrous because guaraná is the most popular soda amongst Brazilians. She asked me if I wanted a soda which I didn’t. She asked me if I wanted an orange juice and said yes. She leaves my table only to come right back saying that the juice was going to be an extra $5. Good customer service would’ve given me the juice for the price of the soda since it wasn’t my fault that they can’t account for their inventory. I asked for my money back. Instead of giving me $2.50, she only gave me $2. My total was almost $30 for 4 pastries (pastéis) and 2 sodas. The portion size was big but the flavors were not so much. Also, they covered the prices on the menu so you really don’t know what your total is until you’re at the counter. Seriously, save your time and money. There are other places in Newark where you can get better food...

This establishment has been very disappointing in my experience, I just tried to place a order via Uber Eats and the app said it was closed. I called the location directly and the very rude lady with the "not my problem" attitude did not even have the brain power to comprehend the situation, even with me speaking to her in her native tongue (Portuguese). I would like to point out that I have had several problems with this eatery for the past 3 years minimum with a 70% average of bad service. Not to mention the food itself has been getting worst and worst. I honestly don't know why I've even tried to order food from them after the first 5-7 times. To summarize this review, I'd say to just eat elsewhere, and I hope they fix the recurring issues they have.

Decided to finally give this place a try again. Called to place a delivery, and heard the phone pick up, then get placed back on the pad. I’m going to assume after 3 years this place would have gotten better manners. Called 2 times after and the second time was left ringing to no avail. The third time, the same thing happened.
