China Wok — Restaurant in Newburyport

This is not the first less than positive experience at China Wok but it was by far the worst. Christmas Eve. Order placed at 5:20 & we were told it was a longer wait than usually and that we could pick up at 6:50. We went at 6:50 and paid and waited and waited until our food was ready at 8:30!!!!! There were lots of upset customers & we could not even get anyone to talk with us so we could cancel our order & get our money back. My poor elderly father in law was waiting in the car the whole time. They were still taking orders and telling people it would be 2 hours. We waited for over 3 hours....and they were way farther behind at 8:30 then they were at 5:20. And to boot they omitted part of our order.

I totally understand being backed up but 3 hours is unacceptable as well as to continue to take orders when they are 3 hours behind. Ridiculous. We will never step foot in...

I love China Wok's food, but I'm about to stop coming here. They have a $20 minimum on online orders even if you're picking up. Because of the stupid rule I never tip because I always end up spending more money than I want to spend on food that I don't want just to meet the minimum. It's not that I don't want to tip, it's that I don't like being forced into spending more money than I want to on more food than I can actually eat. You have to be absolutely brain-dead to not understand and realize this, so stop giving me a weird fooking looks every time I come in there. Remove the minimum or deal with no tips, simple as that. I called the woman on the phone to order lunch for my cousins and I. It was a small order for delivery and they said it would take about 30-40 minutes. I ended up calling to check back once it hit the 50 minute mark and they said the driver was on his way. The driver himself ended up calling me several times to confirm my address (the same address I’ve given them multiple times) I ended up walking up my driveway and he got me my food which was actually amazing and probably some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. It was not greasy at all and was incredibly fresh. The service was eery but the food makes up for it. I would recommend if you are interested in waiting a while to eat.
