Loco Chon Bar & Grill Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Newcastle

I’ve been getting takeouts here once or twice a month for the past 2 years, and i always make the same order: pork belly bites. It’s SO yummy. The only problem is INCONSISTENCY in the quality. Out of the dozens of times I’ve ordered the same dish, some were exceptionally excellent in taste and quality, most were normal, and some were bad🙁. For example, sometimes I get both my sauces but sometimes (like today) I got no sauce☹️; sometimes the meat is sooo tender and delicious but sometimes (like last time I ordered) the meat is very rough and impossible to chew like it’s old food from earlier in the day; sometimes the chips are amazing and I scrape the bottoms of the bag for the last bite but sometimes (like today) my chips are stale. By how many times I’ve eaten this dish you jut have to trust that I am their pork belly bites connoisseur. I will continue to order this because I’m obsessed with it, and I will continue to tip the staffs because they are nice and helpful. But I’d like the restaurant to be aware of their inconsistency, and I really hope they won’t change the price/taste/portion...

Been here before with friends and it was great and delicious. Came back just a little bit ago this evening to grab a drink and a bite before the dreaded weekly grocery shopping trip. I was greeted right away at the rail by the bartender. Provide a food menu and showed my ID. He then kind of forgot about me. As he was conversing with what I would guess are regulars and casually doing glassware. Never a glance back at me. I had my menu closed and in front and I was not on my phone. I gave the appearance I was ready to order. Rather ask for a drink menu since I wanted that first before ordering my food. He never came back. So I left after about 10 minutes. And I probably wont be back. And I really wanted tacos tonight. But I’m at my favorite Thai place. I am a server/bartender at the same restaurant for a little over 10 years there was no reason for him to not have been back in less than 5 minutes. I looked around to make sure I wasn’t just trippin. He was not busy. The place was, he had no tickets and only 2 couples and myself...

It’s been a while since I had a meal this bad. We wanted to try a new place and this place had decent reviews. We did take out so I can’t speak to drinks or service. I got the steak enchiladas and my husband got chicken enchiladas. Both of us thought the red sauce was TERRIBLE. Bland and with a terrible flavor. I make homemade enchiladas with La Victoria and that tastes much better. Steak was ok, not over cooked, but chicken was dry. Other than red sauce, the tortillas had sour cream and only a small amount of cheese on top, nothing inside except steak. We both hate cilantro so did not try the pico de gallo. We were disappointed to find that the rice had cilantro in it too. Why do so many Mexican restaurants think everyone likes cilantro?! Other than cilantro, which I picked out, the rice was plain white with a little hint of lime. Boring. Chips were ok. I didn’t mind the refried beans but my husband thought they were bland and not good. I actually felt nauseous from this meal. Neither of us could...
