Cafe MG 538 — Restaurant in Newport Beach

I am extremely sadden that I have to write the following review as I have always loved the food here and it has been one of my favorite places to eat . I have been ordering food from this place for a group of clients at my workplace over the past couple of months and have been very satisfied with the food. Today, when I ordered 4 paninis and 2 salads one of my clients who had one of the 2 salads, found what looks like a metal screen that looks like it might be from a sink, in her salad. I called Cafe 538 and asked to speak with a manager. I spoke with Leo who said he was the manager and calmly explained to him the situation. He immediately implied that it couldn't possibly be them and implied that we were making this up. In the past I have worked in the food industry for many years and am well aware that people can make things up, however, there are MANY cases where these things absolutely happen. I was taken back at the fact that there was NO remorse, NO apology but rather a finger pointed at me for something that they did which is a HAZARD. Leo left me feeling violated with the lack of concern and care for the matter. Being that I was not heard and felt zero respect, I asked if I could speak with a manager above him. He told me that he would have to ask and see if they would want to talk to me. I explained to him that surely they would want to hear about the safety hazard and he didn't even give it a thought. I am blown away at the HORRIBLE customer service, management and lack of concern for food safety. I really hope that they start being more cautious about food handling and food safety moving forward so that this kind of thing doesn't happen to someone in the future resulting in a serious injury. I recently visited Cafe 538 and had a truly fantastic experience. The bacon and sausage breakfast burrito was absolutely delicious - I couldn't get enough! The salsa that came with it was a perfect complement to the savory flavors of the burrito. It's worth noting that the burrito is on the smaller side, but the quality and taste more than make up for its size.

The real star of the show, though, was the mango guava madness smoothie. It was so good that I found myself wishing I could have another one! It was the perfect balance of fruity sweetness and refreshment - the ideal drink for a hot day or to start your morning on a high note.

This place is amazing! I am a pharma rep and I ordered it for an office, per the offices request. Not only did the manager, Leo, work with me to ensure I stayed within my budget, they also were extremely helpful in picking out items as I had never eaten here before. The food was incredible and when I got to my office everything was already set up beautifully and the staff was extremely happy to have such a delicious breakfast!!!
