Lido has good food, pricey but mostly delivers in the past, however we were abandoned in service for a "bigger" table this time and it was unacceptable. Things started off ok, the service was engaging but then dissipated when a more important table arrived. The waiter was a fraud. We asked about the croquettes and since we had 6 people if we could have 6. He said they came in 5's but maybe could add a 6th. The croquettes came in 4. He said the pasta was light and refreshing. But when our patron asked how much was in it because he wanted a filling meal, he changed the tune to say it was hearty and the sauce was filling. It was not, it was in fact light (and that came waaaaaay late as you will see). Our little one asked for a kids pasta with a more flavorful sauce than "butter", he said the chef had a tomato option he could use and that she would get special sauce...but when delivered it came with just butter and he pretended it was special by squeezing a lemon over it (see its all show to overcompensate for being wrong). At one point he "emphasized" that food is served tapas style, so some items don't come out at the same time. However they have a CLEAR price point line of apps/tapas and main courses (including their summer special pasta which wasn't even good in the end!). That's ok in small doses of course, but 5 of the 6 meals came at the same time. The last dish was 20(!!!) minutes later, which we even had to ask someone else for because our server was engaged with the bigger table for sooo long, so our pasta patron was without a meal while we finished ours...unacceptable in any restaurant tapas or not! The server knew we were one meal short and didn't delegate anyone to watch over our table as he engaged the bigger group. When he finally arrived to ask about our meal, we complained and he threw that caveat of "tapas style" at us to make an excuse! NO!!!! And then we were never asked for dessert because of infrequent visits after the bigger table arrived, and had to ask a poor hostess girl, who took the brunt of our complaints, for more water and for our check while the server skated for the bigger tip. And in the end? They charged us for a 20% tip on the bill automatically!!! So there you go...they knew the tip was baked in and abandoned us...we were furious. We will not go back, and will adamantly not recommend this to our friends...in fact this was a trip to impress friends and they said they (nor will we)...
Read moreTuna tartar! With chile pop rocks!? I've always been one to look for the tostada to eat with my ahi tuna but this was delicious solo. No need to mask the flavor - it was incredible.
Just go here and eat. I'm not even sure there are "good" things or "bad" things on the menu. I'm positive everything is incredible. Must try.
And don't get me started on the beer / wine options. So many options. Reasonably priced. I went with the sparkling rose.
Last, the boat-like vibe on the interior as you're watching the college kids hop on their local charter for their frat outing just takes me back. Beautiful place, such a fun and young atmosphere.
Great vibes and the staff was so polite. Sometimes when you go somewhere cool and hip, the staff can be intimidating, but not this place. Everyone was helpful and kind. We ended up loving the bao buns, tuna tartar, croquettes and the beef stroganoff. Finished it with the apple dessert. Husband got a beer, not sure which kind but it...
Read moreKind of a mixed bag. Most of the food was delicious. We got the market catch of the day, which was a beautiful, two and a half inch thick piece of cod. It was perfectly cooked with utter precision. And woefully under seasoned. The seafood chowder was fantastic, as was the seasonal veggie appetizer plate. The drinks were very overpriced and very underpowered. Fancy names for generic tasting margaritas, and fancy price tags to go with it. Would have been better off with a beer or glass of wine I suppose. Also not sure exactly how the service is supposed to work there, but the server we started off with disappeared, and a delightful young lady came and introduced herself, but after taking our drink order she too disappeared. A very friendly young man was the replacement, and while he took good care of us, he was pretty unfamiliar with the menu. A few hits, a few misses, but overall fairly happy with the experience. I just wouldn't order a...
