My Galley — Restaurant in Newport Beach

I don’t even know how to write this review- the girls working were very friendly, service was good, the place looked clean, it has so much potential but it was objectively the worst coffee we’ve ever had in our lives. Our americanos tasted like watered down old 7-11 drip coffee. We couldn’t believe it was that bad, it had to be a machine malfunction so we went back a second morning and got an extra shot in the small size. IT TASTED THE SAME. We dumped our $6 coffees in the sink, undrinkable. So I feel bad writing this because the service was great, my breakfast sandwich was really good but maybe they don’t know how to use the espresso machine properly...

How does this place have 4.5 stars?! We had breakfast here (I had the breakfast sandwich and my friend had a burrito). The bacon on the sandwich was paper thin and I could hardly taste it. The cheese was processed American. Ugh. The bread was sourdough but seemed like just large sliced white bread. It wasn't even toasted enough and became soggy by the time I picked through the second half of the sandwich. My friends burrito was ok but his plate was full of liquid probably from the veggies in it and made the tortilla soggy. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 is because the coffee was good and the servers behind the counter were pleasant...

I hate doing this…but I’m hoping I’ll feel better after spending $19 on a small latte with an extra shot and a breakfast burrito. Long story short…called it in and waited for another 15 minutes…to get the most pathetic breakfast burrito not only on the peninsula but quite possibly the planet! Lady said have some free salsa…all the salsa was sitting in water upside down and sideways so that each salsa looked as if they were taking on water in each container. I’m hoping this was just an off day, but maybe the owner will recognize additional help is needed especially if your going to pay $8 dollars for a small latte with 2...
